Strangely, after a few years of notoriously voting OU well below their ranking, Bowden decides to throw the Sooners a bone, and include them in his ballot. The only other coach who included OU was Stoops.

I think Bobby did a big favor this year (well, probably not Bobby but FSU). The way Balogun's lawyer rolled over and disappeared so quickly after the NCAA ruled against him, makes me suspect there was no case. If FSU had not inquired about this and Balogun had played in some games, I think we would be looking at forfeits and sanctions. Not that FSU's goal was to help us...

Bowden probably got pizzed a couple of years ago that we stole one of his recruits or something, so he stuck us with a pizz-poor ranking in BCS crunch-time.

Otherwise he's usually spoken well of OU. Consider he's not soem crazy old fool, maybe he's just human and a little bitter at times.

The only other coach who included OU was Stoops. He knows that this dog has no teeth with which to chew, so why not throw us bone? Its of no consequence with respect to any BCS bowl possibilities and at the end of the day, thats the only time even one low vote could matter in the real scheme of things. F'him

Haha...

You could say Oklahoma killed the FSU football program that night....we haven't heard anything from them since Jan 2001.

I think usc has shown no one needs to fear the NCAA anymore.

There have been many threads on the subject. I'll just say if I were an AD or coach I would *not* assume I would get the same treatment as USC does by the NCAA.

Exactly right, the night the FSU dynasty died.

FOURTEEN straight Top 5 rankings. Unreal!

Switzer always beat him, I believe, and then Stoops did it too. The only loss ever I remember to FSU was one of Bud's last teams, or one of Gomer's teams. (We lost to them in the mid '60's). I don't think Bowden was the coach then. Somebody might want to look it up?

To Bowden's credit, judging from the last game, we may be playing like the 24th best team right now.

21. Stanford
22. Texas Tech
23. OU
24. Houston
25. Okie lite

Bowden's vote is not that surprising. People often repent on their death beds.

Forfeits would have been very unlikely, in that situation.
