1) the only bowl streak that matters is losing in bcs games, and actually we won the last 2 not bcs bowl games right?
2) stanford doesn't have that much cred football wise.

#2 is exactly why Stoops can't choke this one off. Remember Boise State? The game meant nothing after the BIG 12 CCG in 2006 thanks to Oregon's refs giving us an extra "loss," keeping us out of the MNC. People still ridicule Bob for Boise State.

Great coaches find a way to end embarassing streaks. Mack was always looked on by the masses as more of a Dennis Franchione, especially seeing how OU always bitch-slapped him the same way they did everyone else. Mack's winning ways eventually got him over the hump. I like to think Pete Carroll and Urban Meyer's embarassing streaks have only begun. And hopefully round 2 begins in Pasadena for Mack. :D

In short, this isn't what I'd call a big game until OU loses. Then it's David versus Goliath... nevermind Stanford is ranked and we're not, they have a Heisman candidate and we don't, etc, etc, etc. It won't kill us to put 2010 (or for some players, the NFL) off for a month or so to focus on beating Stanford. It's truly as good a matchup as we've seen in recent years, even if it is for a bottle of cologne.

This is reminding me more and more of the Holiday Bowl, circa 2005. I hope.
