Well heck.. Suh outplayed McCoy in a head-to-head game on a neutral field.. so according to Mack Brown the winner should be (drumroll please)........

P.S. What goes around comes around.

This would definitely be the year to choose a player from a non-major school, a non-quarterback, or even a non-offensive player.

I'm just gonna yell out "small sample size" for right now and wait until later in the week. I think Suh is a deserving candidate, though, and I wouldn't be unhappy if he wins it.

Suh should lock it up. If anyone else wins it, it'll be Ingram for being on the Tide. However, Suh deserves it. Week in, week out, he is an absolute game changer. Just a freak of a lineman.

Go Gerhart. Typically Heisman winners donn't do well in their bowl game.

OUr knock on Ponyboy is that he plays for sa*et. Numbers-wise, he deserves consideration but everything is relative. Statistically, he was better in 2008 than 2009 save for the most important stat of all, the W-L column. Let the voters decide.

and therein lies the problem. he didnt win it last year so voters tend to hold him to the same standard. When he performs worse on the field, I think people see that as the relevant point, not his stats compared to everyone else in the field.

personally, Im fine if Suh or Gerhart wins it. I really dont think Colt deserves it this year. Suh is just totally dominant

Gerhart or Suh would be fantastic. I've been aboard the Gerhart train for several weeks but it would be great for a defensive player to win it for once.

a sidenote...i didnt see the texas/ska game but in the highlights, it looked really bad for the texas center. is it my imagination or did habern/our line do a better job aginst him than texas did? it seemed like in the highlights, they showed every other play mccoy was getting smoked by suh

Given the lack of talent this year, why not a D guy? Suh has had as great of an impact for his team this year as Bradford or Teblow had the years they won the Heisman. Without Suh, Nebbish is not in the CCG and most likely would have lost to OU and a few others...I just hope they don't cycle Colty boy into the award...

Taxman71

Sad that players like AD, Joe Washington and Peyton Manning didn't win a Heisman, but there are years like this when they are just looking for anyone halfway deserving to give it away to.

However, I would be happy with ANYone winning that isn't from Texas or Florida.

I would prefer gerhart, I don't want Nebbish getting any more winners. But either of those is better the Colt. Suh probably stole many of the votes that Colt would have gotten.

If Colt doesn't win it (and he won't because the Eastern Sports Promotional Network has already declared Alabama the National Champs and will disregard Mark Ingram's 30 yards against Allbarn and will award him the Hypesman)..

Then...

KingKongDammit Suh has been transcendent this year. He was ripping the arms off of our offensive linemen and throwing them at Colt.

josh09
12/7/2009, 03:21 PM
Gerhart should get it. Then we can shut him down and show to the nation how good our defense is.

well, if they can overlook the fact that colt was shown up by a redshirt freshman and colt's terrible 127 yard 1 td 1 int performance against a lowered tiered (terrible OU) bowl team, why can't they overlook an off day by a running back?

Come on Lid, you know Colt doesnt deserve the Heisman this year, it isnt a career achievement award. Listen, the guy is great and a class act and I hope he has a great Pro career (mark it down, the 1st horn in history who I hope does well in the pros, probably the last) but he hasnt been that great this year.

In his biggest games (no im not counting A&M, I realize they are a big rival but they are horrible) he hasnt been that good.

Vs OU, Tech, Neb, and Osu here are his stats

81/130 62% 687 yds 3 tds and 6 int 52yds rushing 1td

The guy has played lights out against the other 8 avg-bad teams he has played, 24tds and 6 ints as opposed to Ingram and Suh whose biggest games came in their teams biggest games. Sorry Lid, he is completely undeserving

On top of that, he almost single handedly cost his team a shot at the natl title with the dumbest move ive seen in a long time on that last play. Mack can spin it how he wants but that game was almost lost on Colt screwing around at the end, some have even argued that if he hadnt been pressured as much he might not have even gotten the throw off in time, can you imagine the meltdown.

Texas won in spite of McCoy, against the better Big 12 teams. He was terrible. Shipley is their best offensive player.
