this is probably the first of many many stressful situations you'll face in your life. Figure out your current priorities and deal with them in that order.

i had that happen last year except i didn't have finals to study for. my advice is to focus on finals however you can, then once finals are over you go get drunk with your friends early and often. just party your *** off. maybe even take a small trip somewhere, find a girl or two or three, live it up and when you get back you'll be a new man. it worked for me.

whatever you do - don't talk to your now ex. i didn't talk to my ex for a month before i even considered gettin my stuff back, giving hers back, etc... that gave me time to become emotionally detached and completely mentally check out of the relationship. best decision i ever made.

Sound advice there. Do NOT talk to her until finals are over at minimum. Good luck.

Damn. That sucks.

My advice?

Work on your outlines.

Oh, and in Crim make sure you don't attempt to charge someone who's dead or attempt to charge someone who's living with a crime committed in another jurisdiction.

If you take some time during your studying and all you can think of is her....call an escort service so you can get back to work ASAP. :D ;)

Don't let it all distract you. You might not realize the gift she's given you until sometime later.

Good Luck on your studies.

Go to a strip club and get a handjob from a stripper in the champagne room and then get back to studying and get on with your life.

On the bright side......best friends wife pulled a similar stunt. Now he has a much hotter, nicer wife and pulls in 6 figures a month. Last I heard she was a waitress. Heres wishing a similar fate for you.

you'll be way more pissed at yourself in the future if you let the emotional aftershocks screw up your performance on your finals. focus for the next few days and then deal with the emotions.

in 10 years you'll run into her with her dorky mortgage-sales guy husband and think "god i'm so glad i didn't let that bitch ruin my law school finals".

Seriously, do this. You will totally enjoy every minute of getting some fun and not having to worry about your old woman ;)

My advice to you.

Start drinking heavily.

Viking Kitten

From a chick:

It's okay to be sad about the end of a long-term relationship, but remember, only a total worthless bitch would dump a guy in the circumstances you are describing. So thank your lucky stars that you got rid of her before she REALLY had the chance to screw up your life. In fact, you are lucky you have something else to focus on... put every ounce of energy into your finals right now, there will be plenty of time for mourning later.

As somebody else mentioned above, this is a good life lesson. If you were preparing for a big trial and your wife left you, neither the judge nor your client will cut you one ounce of slack. Neither do professors...My mom had to take her 3L law school finals one week after she buried her own mother (my grandma).

Oh, and THIS is the most sound advice I've seen so far.

Losing someone that you truly do care about always sucks, but what sucks worse is dwelling on the things you cannot change. Pity leaves no room for growth.

Heartbreak? Depression? Paying women with negotiable morals for sex? This has ALL the trappings of a SicEm thread.

Seriously dude, tough break. But all this advice is solid. And get yourself into a nice, regular routine that doesn't involve her. Go golfing on Sunday mornings or some other manly activity. Or, better yet, do all the things she HATED when you were together.

Lots of good advice here, I would just add that if you truly cannot concentrate, then take an hour or two and have a little pity party--look at the old pics, listen to all the old songs, etc., just revel in the misery for a while, and then pack it all up and put it away until after the finals, DON'T TALK TO HER UNTIL THEN. Sometimes I have to do this when I really miss the hubby (he's deployed), just let myself be sad for awhile, but I always feel better after and can get on with things without thinking about missing him so much. Hang in there, time really does heal broken hearts, it's just a lot slower than we'd like.

Don't screw your career for a sig other. You will have to live with your career and finals the rest of your life. This girl/woman, probably not and if she broke up with you, you probably don't want her back. Focus on school/career during crunch time, afterwards you can entertain a thought on the gf - if you want.

Her loss and your gain. Apparently she would rather be with a loser than a successful lawyer in the making.

She is probably somewhere tellin her friends that she had made you miserable and you wont be able to do well on your finals because you are so upset over her...

had a similar situation happen to me - 2 days before starting training for something i wanted more than anything... and that i had prepared for more than anything.

long story short, it got to me, and i blew an opportunity at something unbelievably special and impressive.

don't let it get to you. someone better will come along in due time. and while you may not forget her, you'll realize how much better your life was without her.

keep your head up and best of luck.

First sign a woman is thinking (dangerous in itself) and they start giving you grief about thinking in a logical and organized fashion and want you to concentrate all your energy and effort on them rather than something like your career and future, then it's become all about them instead of the team! :D

KICK EM' TO THE CURB! :)

YOU'RE BETTER OFF (IN THE LONG RUN) WITHOUT HER.

Leopard can't change their spots. They leave you once, they'll leave you again. Perhaps next time it might be with 3 kids, in debt up to your eyeballs, and her new boyfriend is your "ex" best friend. LOL
