An anonymous source on Irish Sports Daily is alleging that Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops signed a contract for the Notre Dame job today (http://forum.goazcats.com/showthread.php?p=1330635) and gave specific details pertaining to the ongoing negotiations between Stoops and ND.
The source said that Stoops is mulling how to approach the OU athletic department with the news, and that that is what is delaying the announcement for the time being.
But pen has hit paper with the Notre Dame administration: "Bring on USC," Stoops reportedly said while signing.
The source cited a familial relation in the third party agency (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/299902-scout-writer-reports-bob-stoops-will-coach-notre-dame) that has acted as a go-between for Stoops and the Notre Dame athletic department.
He confirmed a rumor that the promise of guaranteed money was holding up negotiations, and said that money is no longer an issue. He also cited Stoops' desire to rebuild the program at Notre Dame like he had done for the Sooners following the losing seasons of John Blake.
He alluded to a press conference occurring as early as this Friday.
Multiple rumors had addressed a possible Stoops-to-ND arrangement, including from the likes of ESPN's Adam Schefter (http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter/status/6216148292) .
Cincinnati's Brian Kelly was ruled out of the coaching search because ND felt a defensive coach was more necessary after the Irish defense gave up an average of 26 points per game this year. The source claimed Kelly was never contacted.

Notre Dame fans are a frickin' wierd lot. Nobody want's to coach there and you're gonna hafta settle for your 4th or 5th choice again, you wankers.

Check out the "source": it's a copy+paste of an anonymous post on a different message board. LOL.

I know they're congenial and nice and all that, but: really???

The only reason I think he would have said "Bring on USC" is if we are playing them in the bowl game. IMHO

Not only that, but it was the dude's first post on the board.

It's amazing how desperate these poseur sports reporting sites are--they'll float anything out there in the hopes it might actually happen and put them on the map.

Dang, they did a story based off of a message board post about a message board post? That's gotta hurt their credibility. If your stupid enough to run with a story based on that, wouldn't you just say based on "an undisclosed source" and NOT put in a link?

"Bring on USC," Stoops reportedly said while signing.
Yeah. He doesn't talk that way. He might have said "We're going to play them in a great way" or something, though.

That has to be the most ridiculous article I have seen posted on a site considered at least semi-legitimate. (Well, they used to be semi-legitimate.)

I love how blogs are just destroying alleged journalistic integrity.

Ugh. Posting items from Bleacher Report has been banned from several Domer boards because their "sources" are other bloggers or posters on the forums. If you go back through their breaking news history you can see how often they are wrong. This is all bunk.

I listened to Bob on WWLS last night. That was all I needed to hear.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, I listened to the guy talk to WWLS from California when he was supposedly in South Bend inking this contract. Just hilarious.

And I love this part:
"From what I was told- Meyer had his chance back in 2005 and that ship has sailed."

LOL, this just proves it's from a ND fan. Only domers could be this delusional. They are srsly a sad lot. Talk about out of touch.

Bob wouldn't say that even if usc wasn't the only team that handed him his own *** in 11 years.

Exactly. Or the words "In the end" would've been in there or something
