From what I can tell, the last time OU shutout three opponents in a single season was 1986, when they did it five times.

You nailed it. Great season (minus 1 game) for the defense!

Great defense.... We have all thought it and posted it.... Last years offense and this years defense.... It would take decades to assemble the cast.... Here is to coach V staying at least 1 more season to streanthen his resume and to bring back all of his studs and to elevate the new talent. CHEERS!

I say the obvious here... we all LOVE great defense! It was The King's mantra, after all.

The '86 Defense also faced the whorns, Nebraska, and pokies on first and goal from the 5 or less. Those three possessions yielded ZERO points. they were arrrrrsome.

Defense saved the season... shut-out, interception, QB sacks and pressure, run-stopping.

Offensive line did a stand-up job. Jones made only 1 or 2 mistakes. Broyles and Murray... awesome tandem.

Bowl game preparation time.

I went nuts when Ratterree stripped and recovered that ball to preserve the shutout yesterday. That was big time.

Hats off to Venables for such a solid season. Texas Tech can be dangerous when they are in a groove, that was our only major malfunction.
