...really runs a lot like Steve Owens.

Six straight 100 yd games. 3 200+ games.

As Heisman as anyone else this year.

Very impressive.

I told someone earlier today that he is the modern day Steve Owens. If I had a vote, he would be #1 on my ballot.

Yep...give that man the Heisman

Unlike some other homo...wners in the Heisman race, this kid EARNED it.

Blood in his mouth, running down his arm, steel in his jaw and fire in his eye. I like this kid. A bunch. Give him the nod, people. Don't shaft another running back like you did Ladanian Tomlinson just because he isn't playing for the title.

I wouldn't want to face him, especially when tired. He completely mowed down that one poor bastard.

Not if he doesn't have a good game against Nebraska. It will all come down to how well the other 3 of the 4 play on Saturday. It shouldn't be who's hot now. It should be who's been hot ALL YEAR and that's Gerhart.

I think the horns just have to win and McCoy not play poorly and I think that happens. Tebow could sneak in if he carries his team over 'Bama. I can't see a west coast player on an 8-4 team not named USC winning it. I'd love to be wrong.

my favorite this year (and Heisman moment imo) was him running over Taylor Mays.

They should give it to him just because he's a damn good running back that happens to be white :)

They should give it to him because his holes have been cut open by former Sooner and Jenks, Oklahoma standout Chase Beeler.

If this was anytime before 2000, Gerhart probably wins it.

Nowadays it isn't the best player, its the focal point of a MNC contender.

Anyone else, regardless of talent or stats has no chance.

Its damn highway robbery of a Heisman trophy. Voters are idiots nowadays.

I actually thought Colt McCoy pushed himself to the front after tha aTm game.

Gerhart's performance tonight had me saying, "McCoy who?"

I believe it is a two horse race now. Thanks for all the fish, Tebow. Keenum, keep it reall in the NFL. Sweet limo ride, Claussen. Sorry your team spilled on you, Spiller.

What you have here, is this:

Lifetime achievement award: McCoy
Best (MVP, difference making) RB performance since AD in '04, and maybe Eddie George in '95 (sorry Ron Dayne and Ricky Williams... this is an opinion based poll): Gerhart

I had a blast watching Gerhart. I hope he's the guy.

Also, Suh from Nebraska would be my #2 behind Gerhart.

I am just going on performance by a player this season.

Gerhart deserves serious Heisman consideration. I don't know the answer to this question, but since the Owens comparison has been made, does Gerhart have any 56 carry games?

That was so much fun watching that game. Gearhart was great against Oregon and USC. Fun to watch. Plus his coach has tremendous diversity on offense when necessary. The halfback pass on 4th and 4 was gold.

Fun to watch Chase #72 as well.

Gearhart would be my choice as Heisman. ABC actually pumped him quite a bit last night. Good stuff.

his highest amount of carries this season were 38 against Oregon where he ran for 223 yards and 3 TD.

311 carries for 1736 yards and 26 TD
10 catches for 149 yards
1-1 passing for 18 yards and a TD

not too bad for a guy who did split carries with another back. Ok, so the other guy was mostly giving him a breather.

Toby would get my vote for sure, especially after last night's show. But, he amazed me every time I saw him this year.
I'm afraid the effed up voters have already chosen darling little colty boy, who makes a meal out of every little hit he takes.

There's a poll on the front page of www.cbssportsline.com

"Who deserves the Heisman" I just put my Gerhart vote on there

Rhino

The knock against McCoy: Threw INTs in each of his first seven games (2 against Texas Tech)

The knock against Tebow: Two games with ZERO passing TDs and at least one INT.

The knock against Ingram: Five games held under 100 yards rushing.

The knock against Gerhart: Team has four losses.

====

Gerhart's "worst" game came in the second game of the season when he rushed for 82 yards on a season-low 17 carries (4.8 per rush). That was one of only two games (the other: 96 yds @ Oregon State) he was held under 100 yards in a game.

Seven games with 100+ yards rushing and THREE games with 200+ yards rushing. The kid is running the ball 5.4 yards per carry.

Absolutely crazy numbers.

Give him the Heisman.

25% Toby Gerhart

15% Mark Ingram

4% Case Keenum

3% Dexter McCluster

26% Colt McCoy

5% C.J. Spiller

21% Tim Tebow

I think a bunch of people agree.

you forgot the important part....Gerhart is the only one of those guys who faced the totally allsome Notre Dame ;)

Only real question honestly is who is going to have a split vote...Tebow/Ingram or Tebow/McCoy

Rhino, you should remember that Football Jesus won his Heisman while his team was 8-4. Then again, Tebow was the most deserving of anyone that season.

I just remember Football Jesus getting his *** handed to him by Michigan in his bowl game that year. :)
