First of all, all pies have their good points. A lot of it depends on the time of year, and what you're having for the main course.

For Thanksgiving, it's pumpkin and pecan. I had a big ol' slice of both today. Side by side. Heaven...

When you're grilling, a good apple pie works. Ala mode, or with a slice of cheddar cheese.

When you want a slice of pie that will just RYFO, then you have to go for the rhubarb or strawberry rhubarb. Anybody who says they don't like rhubarb pie is a cretin.

Cherry pie? It's OK, but it would never be first on the list of anything.

Creme pies? Oh hells yes. Coconut, chocolate, banana.

Key Lime? Good ****.

Lemon merengue? Meh. I'll eat it if it's good, but I'd never order it or anything.
