I have yet to see anything that proves to me that TMG is anything but Drew Lavender #2.

If there isn't MASSIVE improvement over the course of the year-or at least from this year to next-then maybe we have to look at the possibility that people were right and Capel's coaching was a result of Blake Griffin.

I'm tired of embarrassing losses. I'm still a fan, and you know, you have to take the good with the bad and the good is usually pretty far slanted in OU's favor, but this abortion of a game is inexcusable, particularly following up that loss to VCU. Capel doesn't have these guys ready to play at all. Seriously, this looks like some guys he just randomly grabbed off a playground.

Just to let you all know....

It's 1:09 a.m. very early on Thanksgiving morning, and I am up watching OU play
San Diego in the Great Alaska Shootout. I'm kind of a badass.

Unfotunately, the Sooners have yet to wake up.

6 minutes in and we're already down 12-5. Yuck, More to come...

Capel inserts Hairspray and Pledger into the game, switches to a full court trap
and it pays off immediately. OU goes on a 15-2 run. Now, San Diego has settled
down and retaken the lead, 21-20 with 5 minutes left in the half.

Our guards look pretty good, but the bigs look dreadful so far. Zero points
combined and they are fouling and turning it over at record pace. The only thing
worse than their play is the local Alaskan broadcast. 93.7 FM is Alaska's
Christian Rock choice. They just lost audio, which is a blessing.

Just under 4 minutes and it's still 21-20 Torerros. We can leave Ryan Wright in
Anchorage....

SD goes on a 14-0 run, followed by a few nice plays from Andrew Fitzgerald to keep us in in it. Little guard from SD is killing us and he hits a 3 at the
buzzer to end the half-- San Diego leads 33-27. Looking real sloppy.

Tiny Gallon gets off to a good 2nd half start, but our defense falls to
pieces...SD gets whatever they want and takes a 15 point lead. Willie trying to bring us back, shaves it to 10 with 12 minutes left. Color analyst has called Alaska "the last frontier" at least 10 times tonight. It's 2:18 a.m. and I'm really annoyed.

After VCU I wasn't too worried---tough road game, early wake up call, etc..

Now, I'm worried.

We look awful in all phases.

Tony Crocker continues his career pattern of following a strong game with an
absolute stinker. I'd say he was horrid tonight, but that insults the word
horrid.

San Diego leads by 22 with 3 minutes left. Turning off the TV.

Really, nothing to like about our effort tonight. Nothing at all. Tiny spent the
majority of the second half sitting next to Capel. Coach looked flabergasted
more than angry. Our two All-Americans aren't nearly as polished as our previous
two that came to Norman.

Lots of work to do...still too early for me to say "what" this team is, but
clearly myself and others overrated them to start the season. We have issues in
all facets.

We play Houston tomorrow (or tonight) I guess. This is not a traditional
tourney-- it's pool play, which means that technically, we can still win it--
although I'd assume ties would be broken by total points or point differential
or something and we'll be screwed there after tonight.

Anyway, Houston is probably just as good (or better) than San Diego, so we'll be
in serious danger of losing three in a row.

Well I set the DVR to record and watch this morning, but stupid Metro Sports in KC lied - the game was not on, but what I can tell from the stats - looks like we can't shoot a lick. Capel said this would be a great shooting team, so hopefully we can turn that around, but from watching the VCU game and hearing about this game, we need a lot of coaching on defense and how to play team ball, and that's kind of scary.
