Does anybody else think this guy is getting shafted in the Heisman race? The only thing Ingram has over him is that Alabama is ranked higher and is historically a high-hype program. Ingram's a good runner, yes, but I don't see anything that sets him apart from the pack of Toston, Dion Lewis, Brown/Murray when they have an OL, Ryan Matthews, etc.

Gerhart is on a whole different level. The guy looks like the 2nd coming of Jim Brown the way he gives multiple defenders a 5-10 ride on his back. Colt and Tebow are both coming on strong, but Gerhart was strong for the entire season. I think that not being ranked #1, #2, or #3 will doom him - especially with that loss to Cal. But he ought to be the winner, either that or somebody like Eric Berry, Tyler Sash, or Najajdndhamdohng Suh, but defenders have so little chance of even getting in the top 10, they might as well not be eligible.

I live within walking distance of the Stanford stadium, so they are always on TV here (I should go watch ND this Sat.). Gerhart is the real deal. Incredibly strong, but good vision and quick feet too. Kind of reminds me of Jerome Bettis in style. But you're right, he won't get a serious look because he plays for Stanford. I'm bet he is on the running back award watch lists.

Yes, it's sad that no one even heard of the guy until a few games ago. I think it's mostly because his team has lost 3 or 4 games, while Alabama is undefeated.

Reminds me of "Touchdown" Tommy Vardell as far as size.....I have to agree..

The guy has been a beast all year and deserves to be mentioned at least..

BTW, Ryan Matthews should be drafted above any of the rb's listed

its all about race. Nobody ever believes a white running back is really that good. ;)

He should definitely be a frontrunner. The guy has had a fantastic season and has been as dominant as anyone else.

I'd vote for him.

Anybody here remember John Capalleti? That's kinda what I think when I see him.....yeah, I'm as old as dirt.

He's got my vote (if I had a vote that is).
He's a brutal runner. Powerful and quick and he's been putting some big stats up.

Oddly enough, Stanford has more Heisman winners than Alabama.

So does the University of Chicago. Been that way for 74 years too.....:D

If only he had a catchy nickname like Touchdown Tommy Vardell.

Did Tommy Vardell win the Heisman? I was thinking of Jim Plunkett.

The only thing Tommy Vardell won was my heart

No, but he had a catchy nickname which is the only reason I remember Tommy Vardell.

I'd vote for the guy, easy. But the Heisman Trophy seems almost as political and subjective and contrived as the Nobel Peace Prize....except in years when a Sooner wins it, of course :D

"TOUCHDOWN TOBY!"

And I agree, he's better than Ingram!

I watched this guy against USC and was very impressed with the way he runs the ball.

Yep.

Let's hope we don't face him in the Sun Bowl.

I've seen a couple of Stanford games on TV as I live in the Bay Area as well. The guy is a tough runner, but I think he isn't getting the serious consideration that others get is because Stanford is 7-4. Ingram is on an unbeaten team in what is considered the "toughest" conference. Therefore, he MUST be better.

It's funny, last weekend at the hunting cabin my father in law already gave this kid the Heisman.

heh.

Yeah, the loss to Cal probably ruined the majority of the hype he would've been getting

I think Gerhart still has a chance if he puts up monster numbers in his next game. After all, they are playing Notre Dame. Isn't there some old saying about winning the Heisman by either playing for Notre Dame or playing well against Notre Dame?

Gerhart is 3rd on most Heisman lists.

282 carries, 1531 yards, 23 TDs.....no fumbles

That is a darn good stat line right there
