NORMAN — Ryan Reynolds, Oklahoma’s middle linebacker and defensive captain, will not play in Saturday’s Bedlam matchup against Oklahoma State, according to OKBlitz.com.

Reynolds sustained a hamstring injury in the third quarter of the Sooners’ 41-13 loss to Texas Tech Saturday, and was replaced by Austin Box.

OU defensive coordinator Brent Venables did not have an update on Reynolds when he met with reporters Sunday afternoon. He did call Box’s effort against the Red Raiders “solid.”

Reynolds would be the Sooners’ seventh starter to suffer a regular season-ending injury this year. Also sidelined: quarterback Sam Bradford, tight end Jermaine Gresham, defensive end Auston English and offensive linemen Brody Eldridge, Jarvis Jones and Ben Habern.

Habern suffered a broken leg at Texas Tech. He’ll be replaced at center by walk-on Brian Lepak against OSU.

To late for that. It was Demarco, he dropped his keys...once again. :(

Good thing Austin Box has been getting reps.

The kid is gonna be a good one.

Tech is where Cooper broke his leg if I remember correctly. That is odd.

there is no way that RR can run a 40 under 5

You are correct and it was after a poor call by the officials...

I'm not sure he could have before the injury, probably not actually, and now no way for sure.

"Out for the season" is a little light on details given there is 1 game left. I wonder if that includes the bowl game in 4-5 weeks?

He is quick between the tackles, I will give him that. And for the most part has played the pass ok.... with exeption to the Tech game.

Hey he probably can't run a 40 in 5 flat... But the kid freakin' gave his heart and soul to this program, and for that I think we should give it up to him.

RR's intangibles are sky-high. He makes all the defensive calls and rarely is out of position. This is a big loss.

Doesn't matter what team you are, with that many injuries, you're going to struggle.

I'm surprised they played him as much as they did against Tech. Because against spread-heavy Kansas and Texas, they subbed him out for Ibiloye about 50% of the time.

Disagree. He was continually out of position second-half, and had at least two really bad whiffs that I saw. IMO he's been one of the bigger recruiting busts.

But to your point, he is still young with time to develop.

But if it were me I would throw Ronnell Lewis in there and see what he can do.

I thought Box was making a ton of progress and playing pretty well last year at MLB before the OSU cheap shot knocked him out for the rest of the season.

Well hopefully he will be ready for some payback... because that was a cheap shot...

I'd have to think Ryan should consider hanging it up before he gets hurt again. He's done everything he could for us. I give him props for his performance this year after all he's been through.

Sad to see him hurt again.

I just don't think he's the hang it up kinda guy.
