I'm offended that you would refer to the NCAA as Nazis.

Everyone knows they're Communists.

No problem.

OTOH, though... Maybe they're Communists AND Nazis!

I wouldn't be surprised.

Personally, this looks like one of the worst movies ever made. Sandra Bullock can't act and I hate having to see her terrible acting on the commercial every time I watch a football game. Just because I like football does not mean that I will like a chick like movie with some football in it.

The book is excellent, mostly since Michael Lewis is the best non-fiction writer since David Halberstam. I don't plan on ever intentionally seeing this movie though.

I'd rather go see Invictus. The one about Nelson Mandela and South Africa's rugby world cup team.

Go see it...then make your comments. I didn't go see the movie because of Sandra Bullock, I went to see it because of a TRUE story of someone who actually overcomes adversity instead of wallowing in self pity and people who actually care about someone other than themselves. The football part was only a bonus. In a cynical, me first world....it's a breath of fresh air to know that people are still basically good at heart.

Oher is a class act, just watch him on draft day. EVERY kid, whatever the sport, ought to watch that and see how lucky they really are. Just remember, it was Oher's team last year that beat Timmah and his boys in Gainesville. Oher is the real deal; whereas, Timmah is a poser. Just read his comments about the eye-poke after the Georgia game.

I hate that Mush Mouth Lou Holtz was on there though. Not that I hate him I just hate listening to him talk!

Saban shoulda made a 'does the carpet match the drapes?' comment to Bullock after he commented on her Windsor window treatments

Great movie that tells a true story that will cause you to tear up, unless you are simply not human.

May not have the best acting, but it's doing pretty well at the box office.

Yeah, Sandra's *** was incredible. It was a great story. Knowing he had made it to be a 1st round draft pick made it a little emotional to me given what he went through to make it. You always hope things like that happen, but its few and far between.

Saw it over last weekend and it was spectacular. Great story and yes, the acting isn't the greatest but the story more than makes up for it. Sandra looked spectacular! I do have to say the movie made me laugh much more than I expected. The kid, S.J., had some pretty funny moments.

It's got too much of a "White Man's Burden" feel to it for me. I know it's based on a true story, but a bunch of white people slapping themselves on the back for taking a poor black kid and turning him into a first round draft pick just feels gross to me.

When excerpts of the book appeared in the New York Times Magazine, it moved me so much I cried. I'm about three quarters through the book. The movie didn't strike me as "White Man's Burden" or even the "Magic Negro." The Touhys are truly remarkable people. I wouldn't agree with them on anything, but they did something truly remarkable.

That's good to hear. I'm glad the actual story doesn't play like that. I was just really turned off by the ads.

I haven't seen the movie. However, I have heard media reports that Oher only glanced through the book version and doesn't plan to see the movie.

Oher's take on it is that he preferred that he wasn't the one getting all of the attention when there are many other examples of this type of story out there, including that stud tight end from Mizzou... what's his name? Jeremy Maclin?

I think that's fair. Why all the attention on Oher?

I went to see it and would pay to see it again. It's not just about the character Sandra Bullock plays although in my opinion she does a great job, it's the story of a poor black kid who would not have had a chance in hell if it hadn't been for the big heart this lady (Lee Ann Thuohy) had. I loved it and highly recommend it.
