IN SENATE GOVERNMENT HEALTH BILL: H.R. 3590:

Or will it pay for itself?

Can the government restrict wages? Limiting health care company execs to 500k seems... 1984.

If an employer does not offer health
coverage, and at least one employee qualifies for a health tax credit, the employer must pay
an additional non-deductible tax of $750 for all full-time employees.

i'm not liking that at all... that's way less than it costs my employer to provide me health insurance, unless i'm reading that the wrong way...

Yep, disincentivizing company paid health plans (a benefit or employment advantage) to stopping this benefit and forcing you into the gubment plan...

This is exactly the way I see it. Tell companies that if you want to carry your employees insurance, you certainly can. It will run you the usual $10,000 to $15,000 per year per employee. However, if you want to not provide insurance you will pay a tax of $750 per year per employee.

1,000 employees x $9,250 annual savings = $9,250,000 in premium savings. Yeah, we are going to go ahead and cancel our private coverage.

The trouble is that the costs that the employer is avoiding are not going away, they are just being shuffled around and will be paid by the employer anyway (and the rich :)).

Does the "employer reporting of insurance on W-2" mean I get to pay taxes on my insurance now?

:D I took "insurance now" to read as the insurance you currently have. I was saying that if you were to change to the government plan you would not have any premiums to be reported on your W-2 and would therefore not have to pay taxes on insurance premiums.

I should probably take the extra 30 seconds to be clear rather than taking the half assed approach

Why would you add this?
"Exemptions for religious objectors, undocumented immigrants, prisoners, those earning less
than the poverty line, members of Indian tribes, and hardship cases (determined by HHS)."

They dont file taxes anyway? So a trip to the emergency room gets paid by whom?

And there is a strong possibility we're screwed if it doesn't. Either way...it seems they will find a way to spend everything.

Sounds like a lot of BS to me. I can barely make it on what I earn as it is.
