I'm glad I don't live around there. I'd have to stop and geek out every single time.

surprisingly, not much of a roar--just a ripple effect a few minutes after launch. now the Atlas and Delta rockets really rock the house.

5 more launches of the shuttle and it's all over. it's something to behold.

I can't believe it. I remember watching the shuttle launch and then land when the mission was over for the very first time in April 1981 when I was in first grade. I always hoped to see a launch some day, but I guess that won't be happening. I don't think I'll be making it out to Florida for the next five missions.

NASA tv on the net is some good stuff to watch!!! Docking with the space station in a few minutes.

I lived in Huntsville, AL, where all liquid fuel engines used on manned space missions have always been tested. It was unmistakeable when a test was being conducted...I wish I'd lived there when the F-1 engines for the Saturn were tested. THAT rocked the house I'm told....7.5 million pounds of thrust!!

The hardest thing is that seeing a launch is not always a for sure deal. I've heard lots of folks say they went to see it launch and never were able to stay through all the delays.

I would love to see one but time is against you from what I hear.

Yep. A girl I worked with went down there to see one, and it didn't end up happening.
