View Full Version : Is a 8-4 and fringe Top 25 OU more appealing than...

a 9-3 and Top 20 Osu team to the Cotton Bowl?

probably but they have their starting qb

Is the game in Stillwater or Boulder?

Stilly, Gundy already said he is playing, not sure why he was so quit to announce that

They would sell a lot more seats to Sooners than they will to the can't-even-fill-their-own-stadium aggies. I wouldn't be surprised if they picked us, especially if we put a beatdown on the pukes.

meoveryouxinfinity

I think OSU wins a close one this week, Texas is losing at half but wins by 20, and we finally win a lose one in Lubbock.

Techs QB is hurting and their Off isnt what it has been, with our D we will have every chance to win this game, c'mon Landry, give me some confidence for the coming years

2004 Cotton Bowl attendance: 73,928
2002 Cotton Bowl attendance: 72,955

In 2004, OSU played Ole Miss. In 2002, OU played Arkansas.

I attended in 2002 and Arkansas did not bring many fans at all. I watched the 2004 one on TV, and while OSU brought a lot of orange-clad fans, Ole Miss outnumbered them, from the looks on tee vee.

The more telling thing is that 2010 Cotton Bowl prices are going to be a lot more money in Jerryworld than the aging Cotton Bowl stadium ticket prices were a few years ago. Thus, OU will get the nod just by virtue of putting more butts in seats, regardless of price.

But think about it.. we have ONE, (1), UNO, UN quality win.

ONE.

At KU.

This team is so wishy-washy. I predicted on here that we'd lose to Nebraska. Why? Because we can't beat mediocre-good teams. Especially away from home. Now, I think Nebraska matched up perfectly with us and is a ton better than Tech, but I would never underestimate Leach and the 6th string qb at Tech.

I still think we win by 10.

This type win on the road could be a good boost for these young players and to close out the season

I urge you to watch the beatdown Leach put on Pelini earlier this year in Lincoln, then.

Our quality win in 2005 was against UO in the Holiday Bowl, which gave us a respectable ranking to end the season. Good things come to those who wait.

Well, I mean better in the way they match up with us..

So you think Tech's offense will score enough to beat us?
answer: no
Maybe the better question is will Tech's defense score enough to beat us.
:(

I see the beatdown of Nebraska in Lincoln by Tech.

And move ALL IN on the beatdown A&M put on Tech... in Lubbock.

If Tech can't beat A&M... if Tech can't beat the aggies AT HOME, then they can't beat us either.

Really? KU? I'd argue we have zero quality wins this year. Everyone beats KU this year.

I don't think you need quality wins to go to a bowl game. i think you need to bring TV sets.

And I don't think OkSt brings many outside the state of Oklahoma.

This D has proven that they can play well on the road and neutral sites. They have also proven that we need to score more than 20 on the road to be comfortable.

Think we can do that? The running game has been much improved...

We win out, we will be a more attractive draw. I meet people up here (NE) all the time that show some sort of knowledge about OU and that they watch us play.
No one outside of Oklahoma really gives a **** about osu. They're just the team that they occasionally confuse with OU.

Some player in the Switzer years, I think it was Elvis Peacock, was at the Miami airport on his way to a visit with osu. Another high school phenom who was at the airport told him osu was NOT the team with all the championships. He cancelled his flight and stayed home that weekend, eventually coming to OU.

If the D can get at least one touchdown we will have a chance. If not based on our offensive production away from Norman I'm worried about this one.

I think an LSU vs OSU matchup would be too good for the Cotton Bowl to pass up... and I wouldn't want to ever encounter a vast majority of LSU fans ever again after the Sugar Bowl anyway (the ones that frequent this board seem cool though).

Trashy as SC fans are, I would be 100 percent for an OU/USC Holiday Bowl. We owe those guys a beatdown.

id say a 3-9 top 50 team is more appealing than a 10-2 LosuR team and i bet we still bring out more fans for that game.

Under that scenario OU would have beaten osu so I'd say yes, OU would be more appealing.

No it was Boone. Holder and their Prez said it was "an anonymous donor" which everyone knew was Boone. They denied it for a few days (like they have another donor) and claimed they fooled everyone when they "revealed" it was Boone.[hairGel]

You can easily lie to the doctors. I never really wish injury on anyone even if I don't like them but concussion are serious. They better make sure he's 100% before he plays or he could end up like Best. He shouldn't have been playing that game he got hurt because the week before he had a mild concussion.

I don't want anywhere around lsu fans again. Nor do I want that defense playing our offense in a bowl game.

Yes, from strictly an economic standpoint, and from a tv ratings point of view. OU fans travel a lot better than Pokie fans, and also you guys have stronger alumni associations around the country. That translates into more dollars going into the bowl and the venue. But, economics and ratings are not the only determining factors....

Ha!!!!... can't even take myself seriously. Colorado stinks this year.

But old Sneaky Snyder... he'll get them ready. Need a Nebraska loss and OU to win out.
