If all else fails after one of the worst losses of your team, complain about the band. Nice!

the band might nave have class, but they can be ultimately funny. and i don't feel bad anytime usc gets beat. if they get clobbered like this, it makes me smile.

Stew in your suckage!! **** you SUC!

Besides, you can take heart...prophylactic posse. You will ranked in the top 3 preseason next year. Even after you lose your bowl game.

They JUST NOW figured out Stanford's band is like that? Didn't Stanford's band get banned from their OWN STADIUM for an entire season one time?

Well, I know for a fact that when they played USC during the OJ Simpson trial they had a white Ford Bronco covered in bloody handprints circling the track in their stadium during halftime. And a few years back they went to Notre Dame and their drum major conducted while wearing a nun's habit and carrying a giant wooden cross...

That's just what I remember myself. Wikipedia has a TON more of these.

Stanford and Rice may be two of my favorite marching bands ever, for exactly that kind of shenanigans.

I think the novelty of SC getting beat over and over is wearing off... for everyone outside the Pac 10. Now that college football's darling is done with dominating, get ready for the Reggie Bush sanctions

And as for Stanford being classless, boo hoo. You guys beat them 42-0 only a few years ago.

A damn good performance by Stanford. I'm impressed with their QB, Andrew Luck. Good presence in the pocket... and mobile too.

I love the band - makes me proud to have a degree from Stanford. They once marched into the formation of a dog and had 1 person run from the nether region toward a fire hydrant with a yellow streaming in tow. That was against the UW huskies. But I agree they have no class :D

Badj, the novelty hasn't worn off for me yet - I'm a bad person. But I'm sure there are plenty of 'SC fans cheering about our record.

Before any Aggie lurkers think to themselves, "Those Sooners don't have any class either for running up the score 65-10!" please allow me to explain the situation in a calm, classy manner.

Please consider that we have had so many injuries that we've needed to get some freshmen and other new players experience on the field.

Also, it is not our job to stop OU from scoring.

In conclusion, if you don't like it, get better.

(ok, so really, really tried. sorry)

Also, for extra lulz, depict what you think when you see Pac 10 teams beating up on SC after years of being SC's beyonce.

Most points allowed in school history: 55 points

Worst loss since 1985: 34 point differential

Getting smoked by Stanford on your home field while ranked #9: Priceless...

Losing 2 out of the last 3 against Stanford given how you lost in 2007: Just Awesome for us

The Stanford band continues to epitomize the spirit of a school that embraced politically correct a decade ahead of everyone else when the student body insisted that when changing the mascot from Indians to something else, the something else had to be something that could not be considered offensive to anyone. Hence, Stanford became the Cardinal, the color not the bird, and is represented by a tree.

Some of us were fortunate to witness a Stanford band halftime show many years ago in Norman, and their irreverence was more entertaining than offensive, to me anyway. BTW, I am referring to a sunny day in 1984, a game that OU won, not that cold day in the rain when a guy named John Elway showed everyone how it's done.

Standford band doesn't have a director. It's an entirely student run organization.

If you haven't seen them, you won't appreciate how much "class" they don't have. If you have seen them, then you already know that they are offensive.

It's interesting that such an irreverant and politically incorrect organization thrives in the PC bastion of the bay area, but it does.

About the "sunny day" in 1984 -- I was in the Pride that year and we had a GREAT time hanging out with the Stanford bandies, but honestly, I've never found them that funny.

Example from the 1984 show in Norman: The band performed a "tribute" to former Miss America Vannessa Williams. (For those that don't remember, Williams had just been stripped of her crown for engaging in soft-core lesbian porn.)

The "tribute" consisted of standing on the field in the shape of "VW" -- Miss Williams's initials.

Halfway through the song the "W" moved above the "V", making a diagram of the female form.

Witty? You make the call.

The 'd' in Stanford is silent - or make that invisible. ;)

Stanford is the republican kids school out here. But as you say, the band is student run and kids that age are still kids. And they have a tradition to maintain.

They're a scramble band. They don't march, they just run from formation to formation. And they do play music, though the music is usually selected for comedic effect, not because they actually want to impress anyone with their playing...

Even if you believe that, that is not what happened to 'SC. The game was 28-21 until 13min left and 'SC still has more game breaking players than Stanford. The last 2 TDs were just running the ball and running the clock to shorten the game. The very last TD was by the 2nd team. It was really just showing respect for 'SCs ability to come back. I think Pete would be embarrassed to suggest than *anyone* ran up the score on him. He may not have like that little mind tweak of Stanford going for 2, but that had little to do with the score. Besides, it gave their D a chance to stop them and they did, so Petey can't complain. I'm sure it goes on the bulletin board next year.

BTW, I've heard it speculated more than once that Harbaugh could be the next OU coach if Bob moved on soon. Has as much weight as any other of these silly rumors, but an interesting one.

Ummm... I'd bet dollars to donuts that the Stanford Band is taking all of this uproar as a compliment.

How do USC fans not realize this?

Scott D
11/16/2009, 03:00 PM
The simple answer is they are USC fans....the simple acts of waving two fingers in teh air for "WE ARE SECOND BEST"...er victory, and overplaying marginal Fleetwood Mac songs are the way that Bands are allegedly to act, according to USC fans.
