A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand that... THANK YOU VETS

I realize this is a free country and it's our right not to serve, but I think a little military service would do us all good.

Of course, I say that as a young healthy guy in a cubicle. :O I freely admit I don't have the gonads to do what they do.

Before we left Bangor yesterday to FINALLY get back to Tinker, we passed a Omni Air Intl. DC-10 that was returning with a bunch of Army guys from Iraq...I was listening to them talking to Bangor ground on the radio...they were headed home to Ft. Hood! Hell of a day to be coming home from deployment...

I'm right there with ya, except I'm not so young anymore. I often wondered if I didn't make a mistake by not serving in the military in my younger years. I wish it was mandatory, like Israel, for every high school graduate to serve 2-3 years before going into college.

Thanks to all the Veterans and Active Duty folks who serve to keep us all safe from harms way and stand as a reminder that we will defend ourselves from those who wish to harm not only us...but our way of life.

God Bless you all.

While my grandparents are very proud of my accomplishments (I think), I think they are most disappointed that I didn't join the military like grandpa, dad and his brothers.

Of course, I have one excuse my brother doesn't have - I'm a girl. The military tradition in the family is for the guys :D

As such, I have the utmost respect and admiration for those that can handle training and serving in the military. I would do worse than Stephen Colbert in basic training. THANK YOU VETS!

I talked to several Vets tonight and they said Applebee's didn't require any ID, these guys went to lunch and the host told them they could head down to a different Applebee's fer dinner. No questions asked.
