11/23/2009, 05:36 PM
you spend a quarter of a billion dollars for 10 years straight you are bound to win a title atleast once, right :D

stoops the eternal pimp
11/23/2009, 07:24 PM

Collier11
11/24/2009, 02:18 PM

stoops the eternal pimp
11/24/2009, 03:36 PM
I bet they don't pay him much :D

Collier11
11/24/2009, 03:53 PM
He is about to get a HUGE raise and he deserves every penny, thats all I know.

I also know that the Cards made the playoffs 7 times in the first decade of the 2000's and consistently had a payroll between $90-100 million. They also went to two WS and won one, while the Yankees consistently had a payroll between $175-200 million and only had 1 WS title :D

stoops the eternal pimp
11/24/2009, 04:37 PM
so your point is....

Collier11
11/24/2009, 04:42 PM
they are doing the same as almost every other team minus the Bosox with double the recources. With the money they are spending wouldnt you expect them to do more?

stoops the eternal pimp
11/24/2009, 04:55 PM
No, because they still can only field 9 guys at a time, throw from the same distance from the pitchers mound, and play within baseball guidelines no matter what the salary is..

Collier11
11/24/2009, 04:59 PM
so what you are saying is they are overpaying for not that great of talent prior to this year?

stoops the eternal pimp
11/24/2009, 05:01 PM
They are always overpaying for talent.....Lots of teams do it...heck, I think everybody is overpaying for talent....

Thats not really an issue for me..just because other teams aren't willing to cough up the cash doesn't make the Yankees bad...

This is the era of free agency..rarely are teams winning championships with guys brought up through their own system.....pay what you have to to field the best team possible

Collier11
11/24/2009, 05:04 PM
My point is, hypothetically...The Yankees are constently willing to pay $100,000,000 for a player that no one else was offering $75,000,000. They get spend hungry and ultimately end up spending all of that money for the same talent as everyone else. That is irresponsible.

stoops the eternal pimp
11/24/2009, 05:13 PM
Oh I dont think irresponsible is the right word....I'm pretty sure they are turning a decent profit regardless....

I think you have to ask the other owners why they won't pay more for that player....they don't want to get into their profits by paying extra...

and no matter what anybody says...The Yankees have never paid 50 million dollars just to talk to a player in hopes of signing him.....

Plus they are paying a huge luxury tax and helping these "small" teams get extra cash..they should be thankful
