Does anyone know when we'll be wearing these?

Apparently OUr slogan is : Stake Our Claim

I know Ohio State is wearing theirs against Michigan... Miami is wearing theirs against USF...

VT = Good Guys Wear White
TCU = Never Back Down
Ohio State = Earned
Florida State = Fear The Spear
Oklahoma = Stake Our Claim
Florida = Finish The Mission
Texas = It Only Takes Eleven
LSU = Cochon De Lait
Mizzou = Beast Mode
Miami = The U Knows

I just hope the jerseys aren't ugly... here's TCU's,VT's, FSU's, Ohio State's in case you haven't seen them...

Haven't found real pics so if anyone comes across them before I do let me know. I personally dislike Nike for changing up our traditional jerseys but whatever. What is done is done.

I think this is the HUGE news we've been waiting for.:D (OUr unis not *)

My guess is OUrs are throwback type with the white helmet. I hope we don't have black helmets or something. Not that it wouldn't look cool, it just wouldn't be cool IMSO. Edit; just noticed your pic of our helmets, I think its looks good. Cool for like one game or something.

Keep it C&C please!!

So many people are freaking out about this. It's just for the Texas Tech game, and the technology used in the uniforms will likely be incorporated into our traditional uniforms next year. This is basically just an opportunity for Nike to show Under Armour and Adidas what they've been working on, since all but one of the games will be Nike vs. UA/three stripes.

Here's the Nike linky, they are revealing teams one at a time, though some have been leaked (not us that I can find). So check here now and then, and hopefully it will show soon.

Oh, and I hear it's for the Tech game on the 21st, at least that's when the other teams are wearing theirs.

Teams in bold to be wearing their combat uniforms:

Virginia Tech @ Maryland (Nov. 14)
Utah @ TCU (Nov. 14)
Ohio State @ Michigan (Nov. 21)
Oklahoma @ Texas Tech (Nov. 21)
Maryland @ Florida State (Nov. 21)
Texas @ Texas A&M (Nov. 26)
Florida State @ Florida (Nov. 28)
Missouri vs. Kansas (Nov. 28)
Miami @ South Florida (Nov. 28)
Arkansas @ LSU (Nov. 28)

I'm just guessing on Missouri and LSU, since in those games they will be playing against teams who aren't sponsored by Nike. Since our game is the 21st, ours will probably officially unveiled either late this week or early next week.

If I had to make a guess, pretty d@mn lightweight to compensate for all of the shoulder pads, under armour, back supporters, QB jackets, etc. that players wear under their jerseys now.

But yes, this is an effort by Nike to either shat on tradition or get people to buy different-looking jerseys. It all comes down to the $$$$$$

Due to the composites / kevlar industry, pads barely weigh much these days. You are right about the $$$$$$, tho.

I've heard that uniform "wings" are because these are the areas of jerseys that are most often torn. Adding som re-reinforcement allows for a jersey to endure a little more wear and tear.

My guess is they'll make these "wings" less visible if players and fans don't like them, but they probably won't go away. Tear-away jerseys are went out in the 80s.

Random observation:
I dislike the whole "combat" theme. There's real combat going on with real college-aged men and women getting killed and maimed. I think it's disrespectful of them to over-do the "football as war" analogy. Football is not combat; it's JUST A GAME. I blame the spoiled over-schooled but under-educated brats that work for Nike and think that marketing is real life.
Nike sucks in general anyway.

i would rather see torn shoulders on a uniform then those wings, they look ridiculous, especially on "throwbacks". if the wings arent that visible they might look cool but even on the ohio state uniform you can see them and look stupid. im steadily losing faith in nike and all the gimmicky crap they seem to do on uniforms

...and the home of the...SOONERS!

I am all for supporting the troops but it really is silly to get bent out of shape because folks are comparing football to war or combat. EVERYONE KNOWS IT IS NOT WAR! But like combat and war you have to strategies and train your guys. When coaches started having guys play one way they called it 2 platoon football as apposed to 1 platoon. So it can be compared to war. I mean how often do you ear announcers say "they have moved into enemy territory" ?

What I don't like about the unis:

1- No "Sooners" on the front (but I'll live, since they're throwback and one-time and all)

2- OK, that's it. There's no number two.

If they can find a way to get "SOONERS" or even better, "OKLAHOMA" across the front of the jersey, I would be sold on keeping this one. I like the idea of it saying "OKLAHOMA" better than "SOONERS" because the white jersey is our away one, so it might be fun like that.

However I think UT and OU kinda missed out on making the undersides of the gloves even cooler. I would have made one big logo instead of the two, especially since ours doesn't even line up. I think they should change them forever just to **** off even more the people who are freaking out/complaining about this one-time thing.

they should have done this promo on a home game. They could have been so much better in crimson jersey with a crimson camo paint like what TCU will be wearing.

Well, if we had played Texas Tech or another non-Nike school at home late in the season this year, we would have gotten a home version of these uniforms.

And TCU looks like they got the worst set of the Pro Combat uniforms, so I don't know why you'd want the same pants they have.

Oh yeah, I forgot they switched to adidas recently. They've been irrelevant for most of this decade so they seemed to have slipped from my memory.

Maybe Nike just dislikes Under Armour more. :D

Agree. Under Armour wouldn't be able to get away with it's insanely high priced crap if they weren't the prime competitor with Nike.

EDIT: Here's a link to a 2007 article (http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/97/under-armour.html?page=0%2C0). They own the marketshare on the shirts that made them famous, even if Adrian Peterson is in the badarse commercials for Nike's version.

tOSU pants are bad ace. fsu's black helmets are as cool as i've seen. ours, i don't really care as long as we play well and it's a one time thing.

what was the stuff south carolina or miss. st. had on their shoulders? it looked like aluminum foil or something.

Overall I don't think the Combat Uni is Horrible, and the tech in them looks pretty cool if it works as intended. But They definitely could have worked on the look for OU a bit. Most of the other schools aren't bad, but we sure do look a lot like Ohio State, when they could have just made a few small changes to make them pretty awesome.

Also what's with the lack of definitive Logo? Oh. State get's their O on their Pants. Could use an OU logo somewhere bigger then that tiny thing on the collar.

I know some thought the TCU unis looked lame in the photos, but wow did they look sharp on ESPN Sportscenter - the pants were metallic purple, as it turned out.

Plus, something that should be very important to us all, is that our players like them. (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/OU/article.aspx?subjectid=92&articleid=20091117_92_B1_OUplay312540) Perhaps they'll play really well in uniforms they really like. I mean, Va Tech and TCU had pretty good games in their new garbs, right?

I didn't realize how much lighter they were, especially when wet. And having "Sooner Magic" on the inside back collar is awesome! The gloves and shoes are sweet. If we could get some Nike Pro Combat jerseys and pants that looked more like what we are used to, I would be in favor of a uniform change. Not the throwback, but similar to what we normally wear.

They gave the teams doing the Pro Combat thing this year new designs so they'd be noticed more easily. Next year the Pro Combat technology will be incorporated into our regular uniforms.

they had the jersey on display at the university bookstore underneath the stadium yesterday. i got to feel the uniform, it was pretty cool. certainly felt different from other uniforms. i'm 19 (so i'm not old), and i really don't think the uniforms are that great. i think they could've done a much better job, and i'm glad it's only one game. the gloves and gameday shirt are pretty sick though.

I'm all for the technological development, but I'm glad the aesthetics are just for one game. I like the fact that OU is one of the schools (generally perennial powerhouses, it seems) that has resisted the urge to "update" their uniforms with cutesy pant stripes, etc.

Yeah, I'm old, but I like the idea of tradition and continuity binding together multiple generations of Sooner fans - it's nice to be 30 years out from graduation (or five years, for that matter) and still see the same uniforms on the field. Those cutsy stripes and other "updates" will look out of date pretty quickly, I imagine.

Just my $.02.

The Tech helmets have some red in them, so with primarily white helmets, LJ will be able to easily distinguish OU players from the Tech players with black helmets.

:( I'm going to be voluntarily banning myself for one hour for that thought.
