Injuries and the NFL draft. Pray for a 1A recruiting season of fast learners.

Last year Nebraska was compelled to throw the ball, and paid for it by making huge mistakes. This year they practically sat on the lead all night and let us make all the mistakes. When you are forced to throw against a top D, bad things can happen.

Best OL in 2008. Young OL this year.
Bradford injury.
Gresham injury.
Fewer top flight receivers than in 08.
Reasonably tough schedule.
Teams get up for OU, doubly so due to above.

^^^^ This.
Can't believe someone would post the topic "how can we fall so much..." Let's see - the ENTIRE offensive line is new, and with injuries and moving guys to different positions, it's really hard to get a cohesive unit working together. Add to that the Gresham and Bradford injuries, and the greaduations of Iglesias and Manny. Toss out Coach Stoops and the assistant's pre-season statements about how this could be the best OU offense ever as complete BS. What this offense needs is time to mature. Tonight we took a step backward.

Lots of teams graduate players.

And deal with injuries.

Not lots of teams return two 1000+ yard backs and suck at moving the chains.

Shhhhhhhh.. someone might hear you.

P.S. It's been a very frustrating year. No doubt about it.

IMO, the big uglies are what this game is all about. Look at the problems USC is having, and they've got a stable of backs. FSU hasn't had a decent OL for years. OU had freaking monsters last year. You don't "reload" a Loadholt every year. It takes time for those guys to develop. This is a development year.
