a fair catch on an On Side kick?

Is it legal?

How many players can signal for a Fair Catch?

I was just watching the ND/Navy game and this came to mind on the second
On Side kick.

If they kick down into the ground it doesn't matter. Once the ball hits the ground there is no fair catch (88% sure I'm right).

ND kicked both On Side kicks up high, they both never touched the ground, until one or more players touched the ball.

Thisis correct. What Dan is talking about I call a pooch. I guess it is conceivable to fair catch it.

I've seen a fair catch on a pooch before.

I don't believe you can call for a fair catch once the ball hits the ground.

Both those onside kicks hit the ground. The kicker tees the ball at a special angle for the onside kicks and drill it straight down and it pops up immediately and looks like a pooch. The ND kicker executed both perfectly.

You can fair catch a pooch which is just a short high kickoff as long as it doesn't hit the ground. You can't fair catch an onside kick that is hits the ground before it goes up in the air. I didn't watch the game but I'm excited anytime Notre Dame loses espaecially if a service academy beats those dick slappers.
