I had no trust in Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner shortly after his appointment and finding out that he helped engineer the Asian economic crisis starting in '97. Forcing Asians to devalue their currencies to save his banking buddies' currency bets is pretty funny given that Asia has subsequently discounted almost all of the US manufacturing industry.

Yes, Geithner played a pretty big role in our current economic/financial crisis.

I really don't care if he had a illegal maid.

Concerning the Fed, they should be beyond the oversight of politicians, but their dealings should be transparent. I hope these allegiations are substiated and favoritism exposed and those who profited made to serve time in jail.

This. Though I have a concern about what you mean by transparency.

1. I don't want the Fed board getting fired by Congress every time they raise interest rates.

2. I also don't want the Fed getting audited every time the raise interest rates.

Thing about Rolling Stone as legitimate journalism is kinda like National Enquirer. Everyone knows the niche that each carved out of the market of print media. However, during the OJ/Nichole Brown investigation and trial, National Enquirer scooped the others several times. They did some honest to goodness investigative reporting and got it right. Because of who they had been prior to that, very large portions of the public have no clue that they did this.

Same thing is happening with Rolling Stone. Because of their past, everyone thinks the recent reporting on this issue is an article written by Hunter S. Thompson before his death.
