Where corporate media sets up a binary lens through which we are taught to view the world, an us versus them world and a communist versus Christian world, after all we are a Christian country.

Heh. While I don't happen to agree with Wright's political leanings at least he gets it.

So the corporate media is pushing the idea that we are a Christian country????

Personal attacks on other posters, including name-calling, vulgar or not, are strictly prohibited and may result in suspension of posting privileges or banning from the board.

Also, I should throw in that back in the day...about 2 years ago, I was given a 24 hour ban for a personal attack on George W. Bush.

Seriously.

That is not a joke.

I was banned...for calling George W. Bush a "****ing moran."

And when I argued, the mod actually said that the personal attacks rule covered ANYONE, not just posters. LOL

So, technically, under that interpretation of the rules...you're breaking the same rules.

Food for thought.

The irony of all this is that you can't comprehend the point that it is IMPOSSIBLE to PROVE that something MIGHT have happened.Interesting stuff on "cybersmearing" and online defamation out there. Seems even Oklahoma may have a law about it? I think you're right about MIGHT though, but that is my concern at the moment, given I use the name in other areas that people professionally know me by.

Yes, laws relating to defamation are applicable to e mail and other online activities. For example, if a person commits libel against you through e mail or other on line activities, the publisher, and any republisher, of the offensive statement can be held accountable for damages. This is why it is wise to be careful about anything you write in an e mail message or online chat room. If the victim is harmed by your action, you can be held liable for his or her losses.

If you think you've been defamed by false information passed on by a computer channel, or worry about whether you can make an aggressive advertising claim, it might be worth talking to a qualified lawyer. http://resources.lawinfo.com/en/Legal-FAQs/Defamation-of-Character/Federal/are-e-mail-and-on-line-activities-subject-to.html

Not so fast. You can prove, at least in a court of law, a thing MIGHT have happened, based on a person's habit, custom and/or practice.

I'm not sure that's particularly relevant here, but it was a big deal in one of may cases recently, and I just thought I'd point that out. Kinda FWIW.;)

Quote:
"… the Constitution allows for many things, but what it does not allow is the most revealing. The so-called Founders did not allow for economic freedom. While political freedom is supposedly a cornerstone of the document, the distribution of wealth is not even mentioned. While many believed that the new Constitution gave them liberty, it instead fitted them with the shackles of hypocrisy."

-Barack H. Obama

Why do you continue to use the senior thesis hoax quote?

That IS a stupid quote from our O. Too bad not enough people were keenly aware of it BEFORE the "election" last yr.

No one is aware of it because someone MADE IT the **** UP.

Pajamas Media issued a notice a few days after its original report acknowledging that the information about Barack Obama's Columbia thesis was a hoax. Joe Klein also affirmed that he had never seen the paper in question.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/columbiathesis.asp

And yes, I saw your reported posts, Tuba. And since most of the ones you reported are posts that are (rightfully so) pointing out that you're using a VERIFIED INTERNET HOAX as some sort of evidence that Obama is a closet socialist, I don't really see any reason to do anything about it.

If you don't like Obama's policies that's cool, but using that quote in your sig makes you look like a tinfoil-hat-wearing moron.

I looked a little bit for O's quotes pertaining to the constitution. This one, from a radio show (google obama quote constitution) is pertinent:

Obama:
To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that. …

I’m not optimistic about bringing about major redistributive change through the courts. You know, the institution just isn’t structured that way.
