I was on my parents' insurance in college. Wouldn't at least some of the athletes still be on theirs?

I believe if you are injured in a "school" event, the school is required to pay for it.


and trust me, its not a problem for OU Athletics (especially football)

My experience is that the institution acts as a secondary insurance coverage. If a student-athlete has insurance, it acts as primary coverage and the school insurance picks up what is uncovered.

If a student-athlete has no insurance, the institutions insurance acts as a primary.

Mutual of Omaha insures NCAA athletes. Remember the story about the kid with the prosthetic leg that wanted to play but Mutual of Omaha wouldnt insure him. Gameday did a piece about it and then they changed their mind. I cant remember the college. THis was a couple years ago.

My daughter is a D1 basketball player and has had a couple of minor injuries (sport related) that have required doctor visits, MRIs, xrays, etc. and our insurance has never come into play.

When I tore my ACL my freshman year at a JUCO they covered whatever my parents didn't. Thank you Dr. McGinnis who did my wife's two ACL's and Both of mine.

All NCAA schools have sports injury policies that cover sports related injuries to their athletes. Those policies usually have a maximum payout limits and restrictions on the providers some schools have no limit policies with higher deductibles etc. It just depends on the school.
Generally, a standard policy will not allow an Okie to go to a dr. in Alabama for treatment. My guess on that one is Sam's parent's insurance is covering that one.

SEC and Urban Meyer in cahoots... could never happen.

And the eye-gouging incident was just a friendly Gator eye-socket massage, like a pat on the butt after a good play.

And since it was only one eye, only a half-game suspension. They need Spikes against Vandy.
