It's amazing how many night games we have had this season.

This stuff happens when you lose a couple early and the rest of the conference sucks. :(

Night games are the best, brings in the money to Norman and it gives you a full day of having fun.

They've been playing all the top games at night the last few years, with the exception of Texas.

I don't really like it, but primetime is an "honor".

Welcome to A&M 101. Please be seated.

Many of you, like me upon arrival from Wisconsin, may not be aware of the phenomenon that is Aggie (not to be confused with Aggy, a synonym for OSU, which will be covered later this semester). This Cliff's notes version is intended to prepare you for that which cannot be prepared for.

Do not be alarmed. These are known as "Yell Leaders." Whether the team is beaten by OU at home or on the road by 77, these "Yell Leaders" will take the place of the hot, female cheerleaders that many male football fans love.

Many "Yell Leaders" are part of the "Corps of Cadets," a form of play-army that many Aggie students are involved in. The "Corps of Cadets" are not real soldiers, contrary to popular opinion.

This is the highest ranking member of the Corps of Cadets, Reveille. No, not the people in the picture, the dog. The collie is the general, and cadets must refer to her as "Miss Rev, ma'am." If a Corps of Cadet member forgets to study for an exam, instructing Reveille to bark during class is a good way to get out of taking the exam.

... moving right along...

http://lindseyrwarne.com/images/f12th-man.jpg
This is the "12th man," an honor bestowed on a student who got to stand on the sidelines and never entered the game. Aggies like to think of themselves as the "12th man," standing around the field, without the expectation of ever needing to play football, but still getting statues of themselves on campus.

This is "Midnight Yell." The Aggies have recently needed extra reminders how and when to cheer for their football team, so they have these at at midnight before each game to remember how to cheer for a football team.

If you think all of this is asinine and really funny at the same time, congratulations, you are a normal person.

I will leave the rest of Aggie 101 to the other professors here at sf.com. Boomer! :D
