I wonder if he still needs to prove he can go a whole year injury free or if he can declare to the NFL and someone would take him even if he is a high risk
player...
thoughts??

I'm not even sure he would be drafted unless he has one helluva combine; he can't stay healthy, and he's really not what i would call all that elusive as a runner

It's going to be a difficult decision for him. His stock is probably not that high as a running back this year. I reckon the NFL may look at him as a receiver too. He should test the waters as Sam did last year before making his decision.

It won't be too difficult of a decision considering he won't be drafted very high if at all...

his stock def isn't very high and I'm sure injury concerns are there for scouts as well. If he has a healthy, good year next year, he may climb up to the 3-5rounds but it makes no sense for him to leave after this year.

if DeMarco has a healthy 2010 season, he will be a first rounder. He is that good. Some of you just don't appreciate him.

I most def appreciate DM and think he is the most dangerous offensive weapon we've had in quite some time but I do not think he has the endurance or size to be an every down back in the league. He will be good in a 2 back system but I just can't see him cracking the 3rd round. I really hope I'm wrong on this though.

DM in the Saints or Colts system would be good for him though. Saints won't happen bc of bush but oh well.

what has he done to prove he is a first rounder?

no way that happens

He's not a first rounder, or probably an any rounder right now.

With an awesome year next year he may get drafted, but definitely not 1st round.

Of all of the underclassmen we have who would be eligible this year, he's the least likely to go, with Dom being next.

Needs to prove himself... this wasn't his year... so far.

This pretty much sums it up.

This^^^^ .... I'd advise for him to stay and try to have an injury free season. He's elusive though its just that after all those injuries he's lost a step.

He's a second day guy. Should come back, real close to a degree.

I was thinking about this last night and I am thinking yes he will come back.

he will be back

i could see him being a 6th round draft pick this year

he will be backIf that at this point. He has all the tools- size (6'1 205),speed(sub 4.5),excellent hands, outstanding maturity and work ethic BUT no consistent ability to stay on the field and produce. It all comes down to his draft evaluation.IF as most think he is a second day pick or F/A,he will return IMHO.

i wonder if Tennell and Ryan Reynolds will get anything?

Surely you jest.

A receiver with what 10 catches, and a 2-down linebacker.

Though I wouldn't be too surprised to see RR get something in recognition of his leadership contributions and his coming back from injury again.

What has DeMarco done to warrant leaving early?

If the thread is about DeMarco making a decision based on being a first rounder or not, then I'd say he would stay. But the kid has more talent than a lot of others that will leave early, IMO.

Look at the way he runs, how he cuts and how he has developed into a tough yardage back. I've been a Murray fan since he got on campus. If it were my advise, I honestly don't know what I'd tell him. He's good, he can catch the ball, he can make something happen in space. How that transfers to the NFL, I'm not sure.

I know how him being hurt a big part of the time transfers to the NFL. ;)

I'm guessing at the very least he will ask Coach Stoops to get an idea where he would go in the draft and then possibly decide from there.

We've added weight to him every year. Not the first time we've added weight to a player to the detriment of his speed/quickness.

...or maybe we didn't do it, and he was just naturally meant to do it.

DM is a beast. The guy just can't stay healthy. I would like to see him back next year. With a very productive off-season I believe it could be his year in 2010.

He's such a hard runner. Hope he comes back.

Yeah, I think he really needs to lay off the weights and do alot of flexibility and speed work if we are ever going to see Demarco run the way he did in 2007. I weighed 190 in high school and never was injured, but i get to college and add 20 pounds of muscle, and it became difficult to get through one practice.

I dont know if schmiddy personalizes the workouts, but Demarco's upper body doesnt look right on top of those legs.

I also know D. Parker hated the weight room, and those guys have/had similar styles.

Demarco actually made a point of adding muscle this spring and summer in hopes of being more durable if I remember correctly. I think it's paid off in some ways in that he does seem to be breaking tackles a lot more than in 07 when he used his elusiveness more.

when is the last time an OU back has run for a long td????

Not sure. I do know we've just missed several.

Not sure about him even being drafted???? I don't think I would go that far as to say that....I know he has had some injuries, but he is still worth taking a shot at in the 3rd round region right now.

Madu ran for about a 40 yarder against Mizzou last year.
