last year the expectations were higher because of Blake...this year, not so much.

I think this shows how much respect Capel and OU have earned when you lose three starters(including the NAISMITH winner) and are still preseason Top 20.That didn't happen after WT graduated or after King,Grant,Grace departed.

It has been a long,slow and ongoing process but under,Tubbs,KS, and now Capel we have risen to emerge as ne of the Top 15-20 basketball programs in the Nation.

I still recall being giddy over making the NCAA tourney in 1979,trouncing UT,and being popped by Larry Bird and the Sycamores.BTW,I must admit I laughed when I first saw that goofy lookig white boy from French Lick.By the time the game was over I wasn't laughing anymore and Bird had scored 27 or so points and we were beaten.We have come a long way since then.

Billy was always dissed by the national media. only lately, does he get some love.

After a quick glance at Soonerstats I came up with the following preseason rankings for us.

'86 - 13
'87 - 7
'88 - 19
'89 - 4
'90 - 17
'91 - 15
'92 - 19
'93 - 15
'94 - NR

They may have been a little underrated at times, but we were respected by the voting members of the press.

I'm so ready for BBall.

In other news I will say nothing like seeing empty seats at Owen Field to jolt my memory of how fickle our fans are. :)
