It will be interesting where he goes. There are some really bad teams, but some of them have drafted QBs in the past few years. The Rams, Browns, Bills, Panthers, Jags, and Redskins are a few who didn't, and would be in position to get him.

Even with The Stache, I think this team will have the best QB situation going into 2010.

It could actually work out in Sam's
favor. Last year he would have been
drafted by Detroit, the graveyard for
QB's.

It may cost him some money in the near
term but be more benefical for his career
in the long run.

A little surprised.

I wonder if there was a clause in the insurance that kind of forced his hand to declare this year, or else the policy would be void.

I assume that the policy period ends this season. I doubt there is anything like you suggest in the policy. This appears to be Sam's decision based on all available evidence, carefully considered. It should surprise no one.

Good Luck Sam and thanks for the memories.

He'll probably go to Carolina. Nevermind they traded away their first round pick. St. Louis?

Unfortunately, the Panthers have traded away their first round pick and most of the rest of their picks as well (I am in Charlotte).

I hope the surgery goes well and good luck to Sam wherever he ends up!

Good Luck, Sam. The 2000 Team had no injuries, this years team at least four major injuries, I wonder if it's just luck, or is there a variance in conditioning?

StoopTroup

I like how he put everyone off his case with "If Rehab goes well I'll probably go Pro". No commitment...but leave me alone for awhile. He's got plenty of options right now. Nice place to be IMO.

Get well Sooner!

So what does the policy cover? Does it just cover never playing again? Or does he get something for getting injured and not being able to finish the year?

Thank you for everything Sam. You are one of the finest examples of being Sooner born, and Sooner bred.

Good luck to you in the NFL. I'm looking forward to watching you play on that level.

As to his possible NFL team - would the Vikings take him knowing they can't count on Favre for too much longer?

They only pay out if his career is over, which is far from the case.

I'm praying he doesn't end up in St. Louis.

I'm hoping that the Titans pick him up and dump Young. That would be awesome on so many levels.

Best of luck to Sam should he go pro. I thought he should take the rest of the year off, rehab or have surgery if thats what was needed, and then come back for hopefully another great year to get his draft status back up. But whatever he wants is good. He's been great for OU and the fans.

They only pay out if his career is over, which is far from the case.

I have heard that is no longer the case.

Additional coverage can be taken out for non-career ending injuries that causes drop in draft stock.
