Ed Cunningham mentioned that DG was "red-shirting" this season. Has to be a 6th year petition. First I've heard about this.

Granger is a 4th yr. senior. He has a redshirt year availible.I double-checked he DID redshirt as a frosh. Not sure he has enough of an injury history for the NCAA to cough up #6.

well he *is* missing an entire season due to the injury. The question is how much time missed due to injuries did he have in his redshirt frosh - junior years.

Very familiar with the 6th year guys. Did Granger miss enough of 08 to qualify?

medical redshirt peeps.

Not exactly, because he already redshirted in 05. This will be a 6th year hardship petition.

Does kleptomania qualify one for a medical redshirt? Dvoracek got one for drinking and putting his buddy into the hospital.

My point is that if Dvoracek can get a med ship for getting wasted and putting his buddy in the hospital, then Granger can get one for bogarting coats.

Shipley and White both got medical hardships, Granger will as well

Why in the name of all that is holy is this fromunda connoisseur still allowed to post here?

That's a direct hit on one of our players. Time to use the ban-hammer to scrape him out of the treads of our shoes like the stepped-on piece of dogschidt that he his.

EDIT: thanks for the gong, man.

Yeah, I decided a red card was too pansy - broke out the old-school banhammer for that one.

Yeah, the NCAA wants to see a significant part of 2 seasons. Just trying to recall how much he missed in 08. A couple games for the Washington mugging, and another couple for his back, right?

Collier11

He missed 3 full games last yr, every game this year

I just read an article on soonersports and it said he is a 5th year senior... he missed two games after the Washington foot injury, then was back in the rotation. He should receive his med redshirt. Thats good new to, having another force in the DT rotation next year would be nice.

It looks like many of us were wrong including myself, this from the DOK:

GRANGER NOT SEEKING HARDSHIP
Contrary to a report Monday, Oklahoma will not be seeking a medical hardship for senior defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger, a school spokesman said.
Defensive coordinator Brent Venables told reporters Sunday that the school was going to apply for a hardship for Granger, who has not played this season after undergoing back surgery last December.

But Granger is not eligible for a hardship because he hasn’t had multiple injuries. OU has, however, applied for a hardship for senior middle linebacker Ryan Reynolds, who has endured three knee surgeries during his career, including one last year that ended the last half of his junior season.

Granger may need to get out of football for good...if that back surgery didn't help enough to step back on the football field. Reynolds will have to beat out a few guys next season regardless of the experience he brings.

So maybe he should twist his ankle on the way to class and achieve that 2nd injury. lol

I was all over that one.

He didn't miss enough time for that injury sustained at Washington.

Yep, he starting looking like an NFL DT at the end of 2006 (his RS FR year), and someone told me, he'd never get there. Won't clear a physical, degenerative condition in the back.

Now, I hate to be rude here, but duh! Of *course* he's not eligible for a medical hardship. This is 2009. If it's news, and it's about the Sooners, it's gonna be bad.

Me, I try to look on the bright side. Like, surely this means next year is better, right?

Right?

Right???!
