I have not heard about Miss Effie in a long long time. I always loved to listen when she called in, anyone that survived Pearl Harbor has my respect.

I live next door to Effie. I don't know why she doesn't call in anymore, but I'll have everybody know that she gets very concerned about my dog when it gets cold outside.

Yeah, I thought Effie had passed on to the Great Memorial Stadium in the sky. Good to know she's still kicking.

I don't hear much out of Chris the Jayhawk either (and I used to work with him).

Kinda happy that Rick from Duncan has gone the way of the dodo.

how many of these callers do you think are made up?

And I thought I listened to the SA way too much. Go figure.

Well, Effie and CtheJ are real people, cuz I've met them. Ditto for OUGeno and "Tobias" (he goes by 3 different names I think).

As for Rick from D, no clue. He sounds like he's fake, nobody could be that stupid and still be alive.

I heard Tobia passed?

Most of the callers are real Gresho, now the ones like Uncle and Sergio, they are real in their own way ;) That aggie chick is just a ****

Rick passed away? That guy was annoying as hell but I certainly dont wish that on anyone, geez

I think Shaq daddy might be in Tulsa now that I think about it

Everyone remember Big City Mike?

I knew Mobile Dave, he worked out at the same gym I did when I lived in Edmond. The funniest thing is I didn't know it was him until I heard the guy talk and recognized his voice.

No idea what ever happened to him, I moved to Dallas in '99.

And, if anyone remembers Wendell, he performed my vasectomy. :D I think he moved away and set up practice somewhere else, but I couldn't swear to that.

Stopped at a McDonald's on the way to the OU/BYU game. There was a white car with "OU Geno" stenciled in the back window. Assumed it was him (why would anyone else claim that???). :)

No, "gone the way of the dodo" is not a euphemism for death, at least as far as I know. I meant he doesn't call in any more.

Shaq Daddy, Rodney and ScissorHands are the best callers on that station.

Remember "King Jim" ? Dude used to crack me the hell up.

Effie sometimes calls Toby Rowland on KREF.

To be a good caller....on the SA....

Do you have to actually listen to the program?

MeMyself&Me

"Marvel" is one I used to laugh at that I haven't heard in a while. Sometimes I'd feel bad because I'd get the impression he didn't know why people were laughing, much less that they were laughing at him.

I think "Stoolwater Sally" has replaced "Rick from Duncan" for the orange jester.

It seems like lately, they don't have the regular callers as much as they used to. More like they have a bunch of people call in that I don't recognize at all that just say some of the most stupid things I've ever heard on a radio. I think I prefer it when the regular types call in. At least it's more entertaining.

I get a kick out of hearing guys who call up both the Animal and 1430 under the same name then doosh out and rip on the opposite station. Like that aggie twerp who called 1550 "The Sooner Urinal" and was on 1550 praising Jim Traber for his show the next week.

SA = too many commercials and boring topics.
1430 = many boring topics and home of Rome and Patrick. Ugh.

theres no time to have regular callers anymore, between all the commercials and trabor calling them all idiots.

Must be nice to talk out your azz about whatever sporting events interest you and you only, rip on your listeners and go to commercial 75% of the day.

Sometimes The Ticket tires me out. But I'd take them any day over the Urinal.

One day, these idiot PD's will figure out that caller driven radio simply doesn't work.

I miss our old format WDFN up here, they shut em down and switched to syndicated national programming. It took 6 months but they went back to a new local lineup that was more limited than the previous one and replaced Rome with Cowherd for the noon to two time block.

It's worse than it used to be, but what can you expect when it's owned by Clear Channel. Our version of "The Ticket" is pretty "meh" for the most part...but they have the broadcast rights for all of the pro teams here.
