Actually, the E-190s are pretty sweet and spacious. I flew on an Air Canada E-190 from Houston to Toronto and it was nice. Pretty sweet ride actually. When did Frontier get E-190s? I thought they were all Airbus?

It was part of them getting bought up by "brickyard" aka republic airways.

Oh yeah, totally forgot about that. Anything to get me off of the Dash-8s/Q4000 prop job things. I hate those planes.

Why isn't there a better service into Norman? I mean...Norman is one of the largest Cities in Oklahoma behind Tulsa and OKC right?

Even though OKC is close...it would sure seem that some company could make some dough shuttling folks out of Norman to feeder hubs. Is Norman doing anything to advance this at their Airport? I've never flown into Norman or visited the airport...so please excuse my lack of knowledge about the airport there. Just a thought/question that popped into my mind.

Last I remembered, it is still pretty small and having private jets is pushing it. Airlines will never service Norman because of Oklahoma City. While it is the third largest city, it is roughly 15 miles from Will Rogers and that would be wasteful for arilines, especially in todays market. Plus you would have to upgrade the terminal in Norman and put in security. It would be a mess. Mostly though, the proximity is pretty much the reason though. If Norman was down by Lawton or another portion of the state, you would probably see some limited service.

I didn't think the two airports were that close.

Again...I figured the Norman Airport would have issues to get regional carriers to come in there but hell....DFW and Love Field still make money. Most folks didn't think Dallas and Ft Worth could keep DFW going either but I think it was a move that made the two cites grow towards themselves instead of apart. The Metro Area down there has really grown since I was a kid.

I'm not saying doing something like this would be easy for Norman...I just think it might be a good idea to think about doing it now instead of in 20 years.

That is AWESOME!!

I usually don't fly into OKC because it's so much more expensive than DFW or TUL. Hopefully the rates there will go down. The airport looks awesome compared to back when.

In Tulsa there is an old Drag Strip that was converted into the Northside Airpark. It's dangerous as hell if Air Density is high and you are going to fly out of there going south. I've met a few folks who have survived their landing on the hill there. Anyway. I guess it's closed now. The Tulsa Police used to have their helicopters stored and maintenanced up there too. I don't know if they still use it or not.

Osage Million Dollar Elm Casino has a place next to it now.

At one time there was talk that to help Downtown Tulsa Business it would be a good idea to put some money into the Airpark again and fix the runway and facilities so that more business folks who fly small aircraft could access Downtown Tulsa quicker and easier.

Not sure what happened to this idea. I guess Baseball was more important than an airport. Maybe they could put a landing strip on the Arkansas River. Now there's an idea!

Couldn't have been worse than a landing at Kai Tak...to bad it's closed, there is some great video's of hairy landing's there.

Well....they didn't fly anything like that out of Airpark....lol

You were risking your life in a Twin Duchess at best there. I know they did fly an old Convair out of there once but they went North out of there and it was close getting it out of there so they could get it to Jones Airport.
