He sang kind of a creepy love the world song to him...after running around the circle with him.

I wasn't familiar with it, since I'm a passive U2 fan, but the kid did know the song and got Bono's glasses when it was over.

I think its something he does in every city. Sends someone around to find a cute kid and coach them that Bono is going to bring them on stage. They walk around while Bono sings, and then at the end, Bono gives him his signature glasses. Kinda cool. I cant imagine what it must feel like to be him.

Wow, Bono really is a midget. Even with his platform booster shoes, the kid is almost as tall as he is.

It's like a hot rod. Makes up for other shortages. Everybody goes "great show, did you see that ****ing stage??" Everybody I've talked to who went says the same thing. I go "what about the music?" "Oh it was good too." Meh.

music was pretty good Dean, they gave us 2 hrs and 15 minutes. Ive been to alot of concerts with big bands and it is typically an hour and a half and done. They played all their hit songs, like I said not a huge fan but the show was great

Oh I'm sure it was pretty good. But how good would it have been - really - if it was just them on a stage without the $40mil set up? Average comes to mind.

Gee Debbie Downer :P...I think my pics show "entertainment" and while not a Jimi solo or a Richie Havens' moment, it was a great evening at MemSta, the stage, the music, the spectacle of the event here in our little town.

The entire package was pretty dayum impressive.

By the way, kudos to the University for the way they handled something so "out of the box". It was very different than gameday, yet similar. Beer sold, smoking in the stands - yeah THAT smoke, letting us on the field after the show...people were a different breed than on Saturdays but it all appeared to work. (provided you got their early enough to get up one of the ramps.)

Thanks for the pics--it was a great show. As someone who has seen U2 many times, they are awesome with or without the fancy set-up.

Now I'm headed to Vegas and going to see them from the RedZone on Friday night.

And Bono is really short--I sat next to him on a plane over the pond about 10 years ago. Maybe 5'5".

Friday night I'll be winging from Vegas to KC for the KU game.

The evening was strange in that we were at the stadium, and there were a lot of people there, but almost nobody was wearing red, and almost nobody knew where to drive, park, enter the stadium, etc. There was a huge line to get into the men's room - so I just went in the other entrance where there was no line. Nobody knew their way around the stadium or the town. That and the fact that they were selling beer in the stadium, which shocked the hell outta me.

10/19/2009, 05:26 PM
Did you see what they were charging? $7 for a little plastic cup that couldn't hold more than 8 oz. at best, and they probably were only filling them to 6 1/2 oz. And at a guess, I'd say they sold enough for just about every person in the stands to have one.

Hey, Joe C! Do the same at football games, but bump the price to $8. Sell it in nifty souvenir plastic cups and you can jump the price to $10.

...and then they can get more hardcore on the liquor laws around town and the stadium, and end up costing the city more money for enforcement than they pull in with the new laws... especially since most everybody's defense will be, "What about that guy right next to me, in THIS pic, that you didn't arrest?"

I hate politics. I love Ron Paul.

He did that with a very pretty chica in Houston, and they whispered into each other's ears at the end of the song. She didn't get his glasses, though. Wonder what she DID get. ;)

Those are great pictures! You either had amazing seats or you have an amazing camera.

I thought it was a great show, great music, great performance. Thanks for holding a parking spot of us Phil!

The beer was poured into the cups from a bottle..so it was still expensive, $7.00 for a bottle of beer, but it was more than 8oz and it wasn't draw beer.

My 15 year old daughter said it was one of the top five nights of her life, ever. I thought that was part of the cool thing, there was a younger crowd all excited about the newer songs, and then us old folks who were crazy about some of the older stuff. My daughter likes the older stuff too though because that is what she hears mostly.

Two hours plus? Is that how long they played? I didn't notice the time but it seemed like they covered a lot.

Yeah and he mentioned the fact that it's another U2 excess, designed to bring the band closer to the fans. Which it did.

And I enjoyed it thoroughly.

No doubt Phil! 3 different times we had people stumble onto our seat saying we were in the wrong section. We're talking about folks who have never set foot in the stadium.

It was also weird seeing some die hard oSu grads that I know in Norman.

Great show, and great weather. Bono is small but that little charismatic dude carries a big stick and a big voice.

Yeah, Black Eyed Peas ended at about 8:20. U2 started at about 9:00 and didn't stop until a little past 11. Might have been 11:10 or so.

i don't think you can compare U2 to Paul McCartney. that bar is a little high. i'm a little pissed i haven't seen him when he was around. kinda like Page and Plant like 10 years ago, and the Stones
