The rule states its marked where you START the slide. Tivo says 1/2 yard short.

It's where the ball is when you start your slide. I don't have TIVO but it looked like a first down when I saw it live on TV. It was kind of a dumb play by McCoy on 3rd down as he had to know it was close without knowing exactly where he had to go and I thought he should have dived forward to make sure. But he made it anyway IMO.

Exactly right. As soon as his head falls back, the defense can't hit him, and it is spotted there. 1/2 yard short.
