I must have missed the explanation.

Wild-arse guess #1: The AP voters got tired of switching between OU-tx and LSU-Florida every year.

When this was scheduled THMFIC knew Sam would be injured in the BYU game and wouldn't be ready until the 3rd Saturday.

There are usually 12 Saturdays between Labor Day and Thanksgiving, but this year there are only 11; Labor Day is on 9/7 this year, the latest it can ever be. If we wanted to play all four nonconference games, our conference opener, and have a bye week, like we've done the last few years, the only way to do it would be to play on the 3rd weekend in October.

The last time the calendar fell like this was 1998; that year (and all the previous years that were the same way), we only played 11 regular season games so there was an extra bye week to play with.

And what happened in 1998? Was that the DeMond/Ricky showdown or the year Ricky went Doak Walker on us?

What happens during leap years when there's a blue moon in September?

What happens during leap years when there's a blue moon in September?

You stand out under that blue moon with a sawed off horn from a longhorn and a headless chicken and chant the secret BEAT texASS chant while wearing nothing but a hooded snuggie and a bullet-riddled texass silver star amulet. Beer is involved. Lots and lots of beer.

Damn, JLEW.

Sometimes you absolutely scare me. Are you one of those guys that the announcers for ESPN/ABC/FOX turns to get the quick facts on each and every player, coach, stadium, weather change, etc?
