Wow, OU still plays four teams ranked above them. I hope this team sees the opportunity in front of them.

Looks like Boise State has climbed about as far as they possibly can. USC has already jumped them, and it's just a matter of time before more 1-loss teams do the same.

Va Tech, too. Ohio State's not far behind.

If they can hold at 6 aren't they an auto-bid? I thought 6th was the magic number?

I don't care what any SEC homer says... our schedule is tops as far as SOS goes IMO.

That's probably true, which is OK since we've got 2 losses. The thing that cracks me up about that is that if we somehow manage to win out and win the conference, Texas will not be going to the MNC with only 1 loss since they didn't win their conference. I'm reasonably sure the voters won't let a 2nd place team in a conference got to the MNC again (and the computers won't help much since their schedule is mediocre at best). That would be funny.

There is only ONE team I'm focusing on right now.

Aaaah the beauty of college football and the inherent BS rankings bias.

They would be faced with the CU-NU situation back in 2001. CU obliterated NU, but had two early season losses when they had some guys injured. We all know what happened. In all fairness, Oregon should have went to the MNC that year against Miami, as they TCB with Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl. It will be interesting to see how pollsters treat us throughout the year, if we beat *, KU, and Nebbish in the next four weeks.

Which brings me to my ire with college football polls. They often presume that an undefeated team is better than a 1-loss team, and that a 2-loss team is automatically worse than a 1-loss team. If that 2-loss team would be like us, and we were to win out, who's to say that we are worse than, let's say SUC, or Oregon? I mean, YOU PLAY WITHOUT ARGUABLY THE BEST PLAYER IN AMERICA, AND YOU LOSE TWO GAMES BY A TOTAL OF TWO POINTS! On top of that, the player in the discussion is the reigning Heisman Trophy Winner, and likely, the #1 player in the 2010 NFL Draft, and furthermore, those games were away from home against two Top 20 teams.

Evidence that this compensation happens in College BBALL is what happened to OUr good guys last year. Even though we dropped 3 of 4, pollsters and the NCAA Committee realized that two of those losses came without Blake, and against KU and *, we had chances to win both of them without him. In the end, we still ended up with a #2 seed, which is a benchmark for Coach Capel and this program.
