Excellent point.

We don't have to go that far.

Instead, let's decriminalize pot.

Then, add a $20.00 excise tax on packs of twenty doobs, and use that money to feed every hungry person in North America, while simultaneously breaking the back of the Messican drug mob.

Can you imagine what the Israelis would charge for THAT? :D

Pot should be decriminalized, but using taxes to fund a large scale public welfare program that not only feeds OUR citizens but those of Canada and Mexico as well?

I mean the number of people we'd be committed to feeding in Mexico alone is absolutely staggering. And what happens if, theoretically, the use of legal pot substantially declines after we've made this absurd commitment to all of North America? Do you think we'd just end the program or do you think the US government would start using a general revenue stream to pay for it? My guess is people would find it cheaper to grow their own pot and smoke it unless you can find a way to tell homegrown pot from this legal-taxed form of the substance.

I wasn't even aware it was our responsibility to feed Mexicans and Canadians.

This is about as well thought out as your plan to quarantine everyone with HIV.

And does the government really need to be in the business of promoting drug use in order to pay for a continent-wide social program? What's the message, "Smoke Pot and Save the Hungry?"

How long are we going to feed these hungry people? Indefinitely? Drug use will have to increase as time goes on in order to pay for this.

This is just some stupid *** **** that I can't believe I took the time and energy to respond to.

i figure taxing weed would help the deficit as much as legalizing gambling has for education in OK

but as least we wouldn't be wasting money on fighting it and people wouldn't be in jail for it

It should be legalized, but if taxed it should be done on the state level. I don't have a problem with using the money as a general revenue source but Homey's plan wasn't to pay off the deficit.

i'm saying it didn't seem to work out as planned in OK. they projected more revenue than they got

And isn't this the way it always seems to go? "We'll give $'s to the chilrun.." is always the battle cry FOR legalized gambiling, and the money never really comes through.

But the cesspool of addicts litters the landscape. One of the rarest of sights is a casino that goes out of business by losing money.......

So back to the original topic, why does the Vatican exist?

It's a Mecca to the Universal Church?

Do I win something?

Of course it is. You should take some political science classes, or something.

Well, and once they say "Oh, education will get $XXXX from gambling revenue" they cut all the funding that education was already getting, so the total money allocated to education doesn't change.

And SicEm, sometimes you think too much about **** posted on here.

That seems to be the case with any proposed tax, then they come back and go for more later.

It took you 13,000+ postings on an innerweb message board to reach that conclusion?
