Any of the rest of you in the same situation as I am? Bought a "low speed vehicle" and with the OK and Federal tax credits it is basically free. Then OK goes and changes it's mind.

Looks like I may still get to keep my OK tax credit, but we'll see.

I don't think some of the vehicles purchased will qualify.

I thought the OTC reversed their decision to disallow the credits.

They should. We could use gas or propane powered vehicles in industry but we can also use cleaner vehicles if it was advantageous. Why shouldn't everyone get a break if they are using something that's deemed Enviro-Friendly?

Here you go Yermom...you can get something to cruise down to the TG in now.

An existing state tax credit allows purchasers of electric vehicles to claim an income tax credit totaling 50 percent of the purchase price that can be spread over five years.

Ummmm...

The vehicles, manufactured by Tomberlin, have been licensed with the Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Commission for more than three years and were engineered to be street-legal, low-speed vehicles, Gaddis said. The most popular model with no accessories sells for about $8,500, he said.

They go up to 25 MPH and as with all other vehicles on the road must be tagged.

air is good...

but to be practical on a street with real cars, i'm thinking 35-40 would be nice (for an electric car in general, not really a glorified golf cart, like that seems to be)

Well, the Tomberlins were approved by the OK tax commission in August of 2008, and then disapproved yesterday. Looks like I may be grandfathered in, but not 100% sure. They initially meant to retroactively exclude the Tomberlins, but look like they may be forced to grandfather people who already purchased them due to a lawsuit filed by one of the sellers in Ada.

Should it be "approved?" The legislation says the LSV's main purpose can't be as a golf cart or off road. Well, it does have a pencil holder and clip for the scorecard, but that doesn't mean it is primarily meant as a golf cart. I use it to get around the neighborhood, and to and from the golf course.

Why should the taxpayers pay for your golf cart?

Sounds like a good idea in theory BUT I can't help wondering what happens when the inevtable occurs and there is a SUV or truck collision with an LSV.

If I have to help pay for peeps to have free golf carts I might purposely run over the bastages. :D

My brother bought one of these for the tax credit and to run errands. It's pretty cool, but it isn't built that well. More like a gold cart than an actual car.
