When's The Last Time We Won a Game with a Field Goal..??

Suggestion ~~ Forget Kicking Field Goals ~~ Either Score a TD or Forget it.
Maybe practing some 2 Point Conversions might also help....!
JMHO ~~

Other than the last two losses, when's the last time we had to?

Oregon 2006 comes to mind. (loss)

Last night on channel 9 they talked about how few close games Stoops has won. It was like less than 30% of all games decided by under 4 points. Barry only lost 4... yes a total of 4 games when they were close.(wonder where the term Sooner Magic is from);)

That's my Point.....Last Time I Remember OU winning with a Field Goal was vs Ohio State I believe (1987 ?)

So Why even go for a Field Goals....?

Once inside the 10 Yard Line Go for the Touchdown or Forget It....!!!
Once Again ~ JMHO....

This statistic can be interpreted both ways.

You can argue that OU's overall dominance has resulted in them never having to resort to field goals to win. But I guess what you are asking is that the times where they had to resort to field goals, how many times has that been sucessful? Not too many in my memory.

Then again statistically you are much more likely to make a field goal from 10 plus yards out than score the td obviously.

how many games have we lost because of kicking too many FGs?

Or how many have we won when we kicked the early field goal instead of pushing our luck? How many times have we kept or regained the momentum with the field goal instead of risking a turn over on downs and a drive and touchdown for the other side? Impossible to know.

TCU in 1998.

I haven't checked the Records (Your Probably Right) ~ But you make my Point.

~ In the Last 11 Years We Won **1** Game by a Field Goal - Seems to me the odds of OU Winning any Game by a Field Goal is almost Nill - We might as well go the TD (Win or Lose) - History of the Sooners winning by a Field Goal is NOT on our Side...!!

Also look at our Long Term Sooner History - Bud & Barry didn't Win many Games with Field Goals -- I can't even remember Bud ever Winning One Game by a Field Goal..? Extra Points Yes - Field Goals -- ? - I'm sure Someone will remind me abour Bud's Record, But I don't remember any Last Minute Field Goals Winning Games for Bud....

I have about as much confidence in Stevens as I have in our defense making a big stop on 3rd down with the game on the line.

I came across these stats...

Bob Stoops is 4-8 in games decided by three points or fewer in his 11 seasons at Oklahoma.

Ou hasn't overcome any 4th quarter deficit since 2007.. against Missouri.. when you trailed 24 - 23 going into the 4th quarter.

Ou hasn't overcome a 4th quarter deficit of more than 3 points... since 2000 when you beat aggy 35 - 31 after trailing by 11 points in the 4th quarter.

I can't remember the exact time we took the lead but I know we came back to beat Texas Tech in 2005...

Anytime I see Sooners and field goal in the same sentence, all I think about is Uwe for the win against Ohio State.

Gee, that was a long time ago.
