will that building be tall enough to permit occupants to see Tulsa's hills and trees, hip bistros, and classy art-deco architectural gems over Oklahoma County's trailer parks? ;)

I refuse to engage in the OKC/Tulsa debate, IMO, both great cities...

not at all. Because all that very cool and unique stuff was built with oil money paid by capitalist, earth-raping, landowner/headright swindling, wildcatter-cum-bazillionaires. :D

all the WPA projects in Oklahoma should be demolished by young eager entrepreneurs. a history buff like yourself wouldn't mind that as long as good, open market capitalism holds the fort.

from reading this, you seem like you are on the non-Joad or Woody Guthrie tip. go the Banks.

I'll remember this next time you try and eulogize Woody. or anything about Oklahoma's dust bowl history.

Homey=the banks.

This thread is sad. It bemoans temporary parking displacement for the cosntruction of the state's newest and largest skyscraper, then devolves into a Tulsa v. OKC thread.

OKC >>> Tulsa in everything except narrow streets and gang activity. You guys can have your hills and old buildings; we'll take all the economic prosperity.

I am jealous of Cain's though.

I'd like to point out that many of Oklahom's restored historical projects were built by the WPA including the fort at Fort Gibson.

Not at all. If you knew your Okie history, you would know that most of that cool art-deco stuff was built in the Roaring Twenties when Tulsa was undisputably "The Oil Capital of the World" and BEFORE the depression.

No complaints about WPA projects because, as we all can see, they actually resulted in buildings and projects with which we're stil blessed today, while putting out-of-work folks on the end of a shovel and restoring their sense of self-worth because they were part of something grand.

BHO's stimulus billions? Not so much. In fact, I'm not sure anyone can tell us where its all ending up, but it's looking increasingly like it was all paid to entities to whom political debts were owed. I know "Cash for Clunkers" enriched Toyota and Honda a heck of a lot more than it did GM and Ford. But hey, let's don't let the facts get in the way of a good argument.

P.S. Woody was a might tetched, but he grew up within a couple miles of my Granny's place in Okemah, so he's otay with me.
