Im guessing since the Marlins don't have anymore home games that they will have the dirt gone.

New sod can have its own worst features too though....especially if there's any rain before gametime.

It's gonna depend on if they are still in the wild card race or not. Once they are mathematically eliminated, then the infield can be sodded over. If there is a chance that they could be in the playoffs, they would not sod over.
A Cane poster on another site has stated that the work has already begun, so they may be out of the race by now.

Their elimination number for the wildcard is 1 so it is highly unlikely they get a spot

I hope they clear the pitcher's mound... we don't want any uphill running battles. :D

ESPN:
Stoops said that the baseball infield at Land Shark Stadium would be replaced before Saturday's game. Some had wondered if the Sooners' speed would be negated if they had to play on part of the field still having a baseball infield.

Actually, that might be kinda cool. Kinda like playing a game in the vacant lot out back. Maybe they could have a coupla areas with sand burrs, and maybe scatter a few rocks around. Let's have a real old school game.

Stoops didn't think much of the dirt in last weeks press conference. In fact kinda laughed at the notion of special shoes for the dirt. I bet deep down he's glad it won't be a factor now.

Our fourth game in this stadium in this decade. Is LandShark the third or fourth name for it in that time?

The infield will be sodded and should be fine...

According to a Miami fan, 790 the Ticket said the field has already been fixed - no more dirt.

Wait a sec...the Sooners' speed!?!!? I thought all teams from the south were the speediest and most athletic teams in the world! What gives?

No, that's just SEC teams. ACC teams are like flipper babies.

They should bring long cleats for the loose sod. There is no way the sod will root-in before the game.

...and there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms Saturday evening. Oh boy.

It's what happens when you have a pathetic fan base - you can't have your own stadium.

You try coming up with the dough to build a stadium in Coral Gables on Miami's campus. It's not about their fanbase.
