Ah...RLiMC/Tuba accusing someone of being "Anti-American" again.

It's funny...Michael Moore peacefully protests something he disagrees with by making a film, using his First Amendment rights, and shows it in order to communicate his message...and you label him "Anti-American."

You don't even know what it MEANS to be AMERICAN.

I don't particularly like Michael Moore. I find him a bit tiresome and pedantic, but he is very much an American. In fact, he tries to do more for our country than MANY people I know. I may disagree with him, so may you, but that doesn't mean he's "Anti-American."

Besides...could SOMEBODY PLEEEASE show me where Capitalism was established as our OFFICIAL economic style here in the U.S. by either the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, or ANY of our Founding Fathers? Again, not saying it SHOULDN'T be...I'm just wondering how being AGAINST Capitalism is somehow "Anti-American."

Please? Okay? Thanks.

Govt bailouts of GS and AIG are not examples of capitalism. **** them. We have corporate cronyism in this country. I think thats what this film is about, it looks to criticize certain aspects of the "capitalism" that our govt has been employing lately.

I'm a real believer in capitalism. I wish our govt was too.

Next thing we to work on is getting money out of politics, then maybe the people could take their country back.

Looks like a good film, I'll check it, probably netflix.

What is so different in what he's talking about here from what you all have been railing against for the last 9 months? Is it because you are secretly among the Wall Street elite CEO club making 100 million dollar bonuses? I mean, I don't get it...all the hate for this film seems kind of reactionary to me.

So, why not wait to release Sicko then? I mean, releasing a movie about how our economic system is corrupt, and our government is controlled by it. Doesn't make much sense to use that to sway... Well I don't know who the **** he would be trying to sway. Representatives are already elected, most of America already agrees with reform, so I must admit, I am confused.

But, considering who started the thread, I am not surprised about that.

I just bought some medicine down here, WITHOUT NEEDING A PRESCRIPTION, that would have cost me over $120 in the U.S. (and would have NEEDED A PRESCRIPTION) for only N.Z. $24 (which is about U.S. $20). I did this without any N.Z. health insurance or any U.S. health insurance picking up the cost or anything. Without any wait. Without any hassle.

And it was the exact same NAME BRAND meds.

Yeah...our health care in the U.S. is TEH BEST!!! Nations with national health care plans are like...TOTALLY third world and stuff.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It's because capitalism is (usually) peaceable assembly. Large, sweeping government interference in markets is unconstitutional because it abriges peaceable assembly.

And yes, I do understand that the gubmint is heavily involved in its economy as is and it has been that way ever since the US Treasury created the dollar.

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US department of energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the national weather service of the national oceanographic and atmospheric administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the national aeronautics and space administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US department of agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the food and drug administration.

At the appropriate time as regulated by the US congress and kept accurate by the national institute of standards and technology and the US naval observatory, I get into my national highway traffic safety administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the environmental protection agency, using legal tender issed by the federal reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US postal service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After work, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it's valuables thanks to the local police department.

I still don't get the connection between Michael Moore's upcoming movie and the healthcare debate.

Could someone explain it to me in more than say, a dozen words? I mean really? It looks to me as if the movie is about AIG and the government bailout money they received and how pissed we should be about it.

Does AIG also figure in to the healthcare thing?

Does AIG also figure in to the healthcare thing?Condemnation of Capitalism in general, but more specifically, the condemnation of AIG and TARP bonuses, which will actually be voted on next week, so I understand. The Socialized Medicine bill might be ATTACHED AS AN AMENDMENT, which will sail through, and we MIGHT HAVE SOCIALIZED MEDICINE IN AS SOON AS ONE WEEK. I'm not predicting this for sure, but only saying that is a plan I believe is happening, even as we speak.

Actually, scratch that. It's easy to determine that some people don't, so I don't wonder at all.

Michael Moore new anti-American movie to coincide with SOCIALIZED MEDICINE vote?

So, which is it? Did it coincide or not? was that coinciding perhaps a coincidence?

Thinking MM is a big fat goob for making such a movie is one thing but lauding his prophetic powers on when votes will be made is quite another.

No, I'm not, but I also am not so naive as to think that this movie was all an orchestrated ruse to push any kind of healthcare bill (whether it's an amendment to another bill or not) into law.

There are just too many moving parts involved and it screams more coincidence to me than anything.

In any event, thanks for taking the time to give me a legitimate explanation of what it is you are getting at. It's quite vague to me most of the time - I'm not hardwired into the neocon media machine so sometimes I'm not privvy to all the inside jokes.
