My son has been receiving this magazine for a few years now.
since he moved i have not really had the opportunity to browse one in while.

will, he has not pickup his latest arrival, so i was looking it over. this mag has turned into nothing but advertisements.

i was very disappointed.

what a joke

that is all

I think the staff's drug problems have really taken a toll on the mag. :D

Vet sent ya a subscription

To Maxim, and Rolling Stone, and Blender, and Spin?

I've been getting all of them and I have no idea why....

I think Blender went under and they rolled that into my Maxim subscription!!!

I'm thinkin it's a super-duper secret admirer! (and I don't mean Vet! :D )

I dropped my membership in BassMasters years ago when it was taken over. Since then the mag has become full of ads rather than useful content.
Tonight, while waiting in line at HEB Supermarket, I added a copy of Texas Monthly to my cart. It was thicker than I've ever seen an issue to be. Well, for 4.95 I'd have gotten 80% ads and "info" re plastic surgery and cancer treatment centers and 20% good stuff...Back on the rack.

I think this is the future of paper magazines. More ads, less new content. I have had several mags over the years, Gold Digest, Runner's World, a couple others, and every issue seems like the same one the same time a year earlier.

Field and Stream is still strong though.

Magazines need advertisements to survive. The Table of Contents is your friend. Most major magazines, not just Maxim but women's magazines, news magazines and hobbyist magazines too, will be packed with ads so they can afford printing costs and maintain profit margins.

Also, fyi, newsstand costs are total ripoffs. If you really like a mag, subscribe. Also, if you shop at places like Best Buy or Barnes & Noble, do NOT accept
"free magazine" offers. Remember how you paid for your DVD/book/??? at that store? Yeah, they're gonna charge that same credit card with a full subscription after your "free" trial of magazines runs out :D
