I'm not sure about Sam. How much has he been practicing/taking snaps/running throwing/running the offense?

I hear that he's been throwing 5/10 yd passes. How does he feel AFTER practice? Any word on this? Has he been throwing farther than that? How much time will he need to get his shoulder/body back in game shape? (does missing 2 games have an affect on his timing?)

Would you rather have Sam at 50, 60, 70% or Landry who has 2 good games of experience under his belt at 100%?

I think that Landry will get the start. Stoops may put Bradford in if the game is close and Landry is not productive.

I still think Jones will start and finish the game... Bradford will see his start and finish with Baylor. If he starts against Miami, then he has been throwing more than just 5 yard passes in practice my friends! I'm not worried about having a QB that can pass the ball.... I'm worried about having a WR that can catch the pass!!!!!!!!!!

I'm all mixed up emotion wise here. On the one hand, I would love to have Sam back at full capabilities because he is so danged good at what he does. But, Landry has done bang up job and I am curious to see what he can do against Miami as opposed to the Idaho States and Tulsa's. I hope they both play, but I guess I'd feel just a tad more secure if a 100% ready Sam were running the show.

Stoops is staying mum on Bradford's chances of playing at Miami.

http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/OU/article.aspx?subjectid=92&articleid=20090928_92_0_NORMAN193924

My own feeling is that they'll prepare for Landry to be the starter and only bring Bradford in if need be. That way, Stoops won't have to contend with as many questions going into Saturday.

You heard Sam was throwing 5/10 yard passes..........LAST MONDAY! And Stoops got mad at Broyles for letting that information out. We haven't heard anything since Monday night. And the way I read it he was throwing passes on 5/10 yard routes....ie, 5/10 yards past the line of scrimmage.

Does missing 2 games have an effect on his timing? I don't think so. He practiced all spring and summer with these receivers. Then they worked hard all of August. He's a stud. I don't think missing 2 games hurts him much. Plus he's been doing mental reps the whole time along with helping to coach Jones.

Would you rather have Sam at 50, 60, 70% or Landry who has 2 good games of experience under his belt at 100%?

Landry has played really well. His problem has been that he occasionally makes bad decisions. He really should have had a couple more interceptions.....he got lucky. He has made some awesome passes. But better defenses will take advantage of bad passing decisions that Sam generally doesn't make.

My guess (and it's only a guess) is that the part of Sam's game that may suffer for a while is the long passes over 25 yards. I think he would know any limitations he may have, and I think he would make smart decisions.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops refused to discuss the chances of quarterback Sam Bradford playing against Miami Saturday, but gave a rosy outlook Monday morning on the Big 12 coaches teleconference.

"Progressing," the Sooner coach said when asked about his quarterback's recovery since suffering a separated shoulder Sept. 5. "All his rehab to this point has been positive."

Stoops confirmed Bradford had gone to Birmingham, Ala., over the weekend to visit renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. The physician's opinion wasn't any different from the ones the quarterback has received from OU's medical staff.

"It was an extra opinion as much as anything. Our guys have been awesome in their evaluations," Stoops said. "When it all first happened, he got multiple opinions and everybody's were all pretty similar that our guys were on the right track and doing the right things. That was the outcome the other day as well."

But Bradford still hasn't been named OU's starting quarterback for Saturday's game. What happens this week in practice will make the decision.

Bradford hasn't gone through a full week of practice since the first week of the season. He just started throwing the football again last week.

"We just have to feel comfortable that he's healthy and can make the throws we need him to make, and he ready to do it," Stoops said.

When asked if it would be a game-time decision, the OU coach said the decision should be made before the Sooners leave for Miami.

"I'm not much on being coy or be evasive on stuff. I usually call it like it is," Stoops said. "When we don't know, I say we don't know just yet. I'm not smart enough to deal with all that. I just call it like it is and that's what I'll do here. We'll see how the week goes."

i heard he went to Alabama to have his arm amputated and replaced by a cyborg-biomechanical arm. this "new"arm is nuerologically connected to his brain which is controlled by a computer chip. he will now have pinpoint accuracy and the ability to throw nice little screen passes with a great touch or throw the football from the 1 inch line to the other end zone for a touchdown....this is the big secret that bob didn't want getting out. he didn't want the U to forfeit.

Broyles said what he said because he was prompted the one of the following questions:

"Hey, Ryan... any idea how Sam's doing?"

"So, Ryan... any expectations for who's going to be the QB against Miami?"

"Ryan, we saw Sam out there in a blue jersey... is he working with the ones yet?"

Ryan's response was something even the sharpest future coaches might have answered casually. You don't go through training on how to play dumb with the media. Ryan and all OUr boys at WR better just be working with Norvell on getting better. This group that was supposed to be better, faster, more physical and athletic than last year's WR corps has been a joke so far when compared to Iglesias, Johnson, Gresham and Chaney.
Physically, they look the part. With the years in the system they have, there should be more than just a top-heavy 2-deep.

* Nearly two-thirds of the world's illiterate adults live in only nine countries, and 45 percent of the world's illiterate adults live in India and China (34 percent and 11 percent respectively).

* Globally, 82 percent of the world's population is reported as literate: 87 percent of men and 77 percent of all women.

* Extremely low literacy rates are concentrated in three regions, South and West Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and the Arab States, where only about six in 10 adults are considered literate: around two-thirds of men and only half of women.

* In contrast, Latin America and the Caribbean and East Asia and the Pacific have literacy rates around 90 percent, for both men and women. Yet these regions combined account for 22 percent of the world's illiterate population.

For the record, I will side with Rus....I don't doubt that Sam was cleared. That doesn't mean Stoops will automatically start him. He may be cleared to play, but not 100%. Maybe Stoops feels like if he brought back Sam at less than that....maybe he would feel guilty if he got hurt again and hurt Sam's draft status. This may be the case especially since Sam never owed us anything...he came back because he wanted to. And Landry has earned some respect from the coaches. Stoops probably has the same opinion has Sam's dad, who said he thinks that Sam is probably fine, but he would like to have him set out another week or two just to be sure. Stoops has confidence in his team outside of Landry as well, so I think he feels ok about the way this game will turn out without Sam. Just my opinion.

You are either really dumb or you just enjoy being a prick in every discussion you enter, which is it? For supposedly going to med school you should understand this.

The Doctors cleared him to play, easy concept. You still with me? After evaluating Stoops did not think that he was "ready" to play. Being medically cleared does not mean you are ready to play, not that hard.

"Medically cleared" to play does not equal being ready enough, in the coaches eyes, to play better than Landry. If it were an ankle or knee sprain, heck 70-80% healthy would probably be more than enough to put him back in the starting lineup, but this shoulder sprain is an entirely different animal. Sam has to get the strength back in his shoulder to make the necessary passes for our offense to succeed. At this point in time, the coaches feel that Landry can get the job done while Sam has another week or so to build up his strength and work out the rust.

I am not on Gresho's side.

Being cleared to practice is different than being cleared to play in a game, but if you guy's are arguing the fact if he was cleared to practice or not then yes, he was cleared to practice.

Are you really this bad at common sense? Being medically cleared to play is completely different from being ready by way of the coaches or your own father who paid a hefty price for an insurance premium. Kent doesnt want him playing yet just to make sure, im sure Stoops wants to make completely sure.

Has nothing to do with the fact that he has been medically cleared, its not a hard concept...I really cant believe you all are still arguing about this, who the hell cares at this point?!
