I'd be shocked if he doesn't have a concussion--he's dazed, throwing up, etc. Lucky for UF they have a bye next week. They go to LSU the next week, they'll need him for that one. He shouldn't have been playing in the 3rd quarter with them up that far...dumb. But I hope he's ok as well, he's annoying, but I hate to see players get hurt.

I do despise the attention he's gotten by the Media as I think it's way over the top. I don't think that's his fault though. Kicking a guy when he's down for the attention others give him isn't something I care to do. Especially until they are sure he's not seriously injured.

To be fair....in that play, what the defender did was text book. He didn't hit hit in the head, helmet to the side, shoulder to the chest. There was just a knee to the head that couldn't be accounted for. It was kind of a freak accident. But I wonder if Tebow will still try to run defenders over in Baton Rouge in 2 weeks.....

Concussions can be really bad and sadly he will rush back and risk getting another one. I hate seeing injuries even if they are to somebody the media has made most of the country hate. I do despise the attention he's gotten by the Media as I think it's way over the top. I don't think that's his fault though.

Think again. Sam put up video game numbers last season, is one of the most high-profile Native Americans to play the game ever, is a hometown hero (just like Tebow) and has had an enormous amount of press thrown his way. You don't see Sam over on the sidelines milking it with his histrionics, you don't see Sam out making statements for "his" team. You don't see Sam acting a fool about the notoriety. If Tebow wanted the love-in to stop, he would stop it. All he has to do is shut his mouth and play the game. Pride goeth before the fall.

I admit that after I knew he was ok, I laughed at the continuous shot of him barfing in a bag.

We've had quite a bit of talk about the "wrap up" hits...especially since Sam's injury was due to one.

We all know it's legal...but is it good for the game?

Anyway...this thread really isn't the place for that discussion IMO. We can always give it it's own thread.

What was he s'posed to do? Hit him with his damm purse? Every football player since the game was invented has been to taught to wrap up a tackle. It's as much a part of the game as running, blocking, passing, and, well, tackling. It's a rough sport. The guys know this when they ink the scholly. IT WAS A FREAK DEAL! The offensive tackle's leg got in the way of The Right Reverend's head! It had NOTHING to do with the hit from the defender. If that offensive tackle isn't there, Tebow gets up and says "nice hit" and goes back to the huddle. It sucks that the kid got jacked up, but EVERY kid that has played middle school ball has had a head hit equivalent to that, if not several. It's PART OF THE GAME. If you don't want to take that risk, don't play the game.

Tebow better get used to it. When he gets drafted, every defender in the league is going to be going after him.

What's next? Participation trophies for all of the teams in D-1?

Don't think Sam got a concussion.

You do realize there have been quite a number of serious injuries leading to death with concussions right?

I'm no Tim Tebow or Florida fan at all, and in fact, can't stand the kid or the team.

Having said that, though, it totally bothers me to see any kid get hurt playing the game. That was a serious injury and from the super super slow motion video I watched, it seriously looked like it could've snapped his neck.

Prayers are certainly in order.

Did a Florida fan, player, or even coach pray for Sam? I don't know and I kinda even doubt it, but does it really matter?

Maybe they should have. I know I did.

I'd like to think they did...but I don't worry about what other people do....I just pray for them when I think they need it. I will pray for the gator nation once they've lost the rest of their games. Will that set you and me straight? :D

It's Urban's fault; why in the world would you play someone that has the flu?

Because the flu caused him to get a concussion?

You guys do realize he could be jacked up badly with a head injury. Wow, funny stuff huh?

Tebow did seem to be pushing really hard in this game to pad his stats. I wonder if after seeing Sam's numbers last year if Urban and him didn't discuss using this approach. Life is funny...one minute your on top of the World and the next they are waving smelling salts under your nose asking if your OK.

Sam came out this year also on top of the World. He got hit and his fall to the turf caused him injury as well. Very different injuries and very different circumstances...

At the end of the day...both are great players and both were stopped doing what they loved.

Prayers for them both. May they meet again on the field of battle that is football.

PS: God....if you could give Sam a bit of an edge in the next one...I'll be putting a little something extra in the collection plate. :D ;)

No doubt 12. I was ruthless when I played sports too. I met plenty of guys nose to nose who were just like me. I usually chalk that one up as competition. Once they drug a guy off though...I noticed they got really pissed if you went over and jumped on his chest.

OF COURSE, I don't hope he's injured for life, but I wouldn't mind seeing him out of the media for a while. After all, I was a fan of Fexas' Earl Campbell in the pros. I could enjoy Tebow in the pros as well, though I'm so sick of the name, I wouldn't miss it.

In. Football is just a game. Health is for life.

PS You don't start worrying about the effects of concussions until you have 3+. I don't know how many Tebow's had but Sam had 1 in HS and 1 in college.

Of course it was, and back in those days we could lead with our helmet.:D

My point is that it's not funny about Tebow getting a head injury, just like it wasn't when Blake Griffin got one or Sam Bradford at Tech.

It's not the same thing but I always think about Paul Kariya getting that high stick and how long he was out.

I've had some vicarious experience with concussions, and generally speaking you never really know anything for sure. Head trauma is a delicate and unpredictable thing. The hits you think would put someone down for weeks sometimes do, but then again might have only minor effects; and vice versa. And you only know you're better after you've been symptom-free for several days. meoveryou is right, there's usually no concern about lasting effects for athletes until you've had several concussions, but each one should be treated seriously until the effects have subsided, and athletes tend to want to rush back to the field/court/etc before they're ready.

I hope he comes back strong. I don't have to like him to wish him well. And I don't want there to be any excuse for Florida losing, to us or otherwise.

Did they pray for Manuel Johnson when he was knocked out cold in the 2006 Tech game? I sure as hell don't see a "pray for Sam Bradford's future" after Sam might have had a career-threatening injury.

He took almost all of the snaps at practice yesterday so I expect him to play. If he was still questionable, I don't see Meyer not giving those practice reps to Brantley.

Personally, I wish he would sit out another week but if the doctors clear him and he wants to play, I don't see Meyer saying no after what Tebow has done for UF.

I expect a lot of handoffs and a real nasty UF defense to win this game and not put any pressure on Tebow to win the game.

I am not sure if Florida will win if they use this strategy. That is the LSU formula and they might do it better than UF. The QB will have to make plays whether it is Tebow or Brantley. BTW, either one is better than anyone LSU has from what I've seen.

Florida will not rush for 300 yards against LSU. LSU is not Charleston Southern, Troy, or Kentucky.

Tebow won't be running it 25 times.

Demps, Rainey, and Moody won't average 10 yards a carry.

Florida's receiving corps is suspect. 2 whiteboys are their top targets, Cooper and Hernandez.

Florida will run the ball and play defense. It will be a low scoring game, and LSU will win 20-17.

Trying to live according to the Golden Rule means trying to empathize with other people, including those who may be very different from us. Empathy is at the root of kindness, compassion, understanding and respect – qualities that we all appreciate being shown, whoever we are, whatever we think and wherever we come from. And although it isn’t possible to know what it really feels like to be a different person or live in different circumstances and have different life experiences, it isn’t difficult for most of us to imagine what would cause us suffering and to try to avoid causing suffering to others. For this reason many people find the Golden Rule’s corollary – “do not treat people in a way you would not wish to be treated yourself” – more pragmatic.
