As opposed to any other smiling, baby kissing, self-absorbed, and self-obsessed politician? They are all raving narcissists, they all get on tv, they all talk out of both sides of your mouth. Why does this narcissist differ and what is the f*cking point?

He has been, but the media are partly to blame, too. They follow him pretty much constantly because of the "OMG TEH FIRST BLACK PREZ! This is HISTORY! We must FILM EVERYTHING!" reaction. I mean, even W could fly under the radar every once in a while, but I think the toilet is about the only place Obama can go that DOESN'T have cameras following him.

I'm not saying he doesn't like the attention, and isn't trying to use it to his advantage. I'm just saying, it's not ALL his fault.

However, you have to admit that this guy is a major attention whore. I challenge you to name one politician who demanded this much media stroking and public attention via the broadcasting airways.

Well, I think that is open for debate. I also get a lot of hostility is driven by some kind of atavistic urge, same could have been said a few years back with W. Sorry, just don't get the obsession with personality politics. If the cat has some fubar policy ideas, which he does, then by all means hammer away. Virtually everyone is asking, "Where's Obama? Where'd he go?"

People are starving for more of Obama and his ideological speeches. If only he wasn't so modest and moderate....maybe the public appetite could be properly fed.

Alas, we have to settle for an overly critical media that blasts Obama in the rare times he ventures in front of a camera. Such a sad state of affairs :D

Hard to believe that Dubya was more of a statesman than Obama is, but that is certainly turning out to be the case.

Barack Obama's churlishness is unforgivable

The juxtaposition on our front page this morning is striking. We carry a photograph of Acting Sgt Michael Lockett - who was killed in Helmand on Monday - receiving the Military Cross from the Queen in June, 2008. He was the 217th British soldier to die in the Afghan conflict. Alongside the picture, we read that the Prime Minister was forced to dash through the kitchens of the UN in New York to secure a few minutes “face time” with President Obama after five requests for a sit-down meeting were rejected by the White House.
What are we to make of this? This country has proved, through the bravery of men like Acting Sgt Lockett, America’s staunchest ally in Afghanistan. In return, the American President treats the British Prime Minister with casual contempt. The President’s graceless behaviour is unforgivable. As most members of the Cabinet would confirm, it’s not a barrel of laughs having to sit down for a chat with Gordon Brown. But that’s not the point. Mr Obama owes this country a great deal for its unflinching commitment to the American-led war in Afghanistan but seems incapable of acknowledging the fact. You might have thought that after the shambles of Mr Brown’s first visit to the Obama White House - when there was no joint press conference and the President’s “gift” to the Prime Minister was a boxed DVD set - lessons would have been learned. Apparently not. Admittedly, part of the problem was Downing Street’s over-anxiety to secure a face-to-face meeting for domestic political purposes but the White House should still have been more obliging. Mr Obama’s churlishness is fresh evidence that the US/UK special relationship is a one-way street.http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/davidhughes/100011208/barack-obamas-churlishness-is-unforgivable/

exactly. give him enough rope to hang himself and see if he does it. the problem between the 2 parties now is that they get in each other's way just enough to keep the continuous game of political hot potato going -- it's like people want the other party to have power just long enough so we can blame them for everything.

Reminds me of this article from the UK...

The UN loves Barack Obama because he is weak

The president scores highly at the UN for refusing to project American values and military might on the world stage, with rare exceptions like the war against the Taliban. His appeasement of Iran, his bullying of Israel, his surrender to Moscow, his call for a nuclear free world, his siding with Marxists in Honduras, his talk of a climate change deal, have all won him plaudits in the large number of UN member states where US foreign policy has traditionally been viewed with contempt.

Simply put, Barack Obama is loved at the UN because he largely fails to advance real American leadership. This is a dangerous strategy of decline that will weaken US power and make her far more vulnerable to attack.

Dude, I'm all over Europe as well and you are right, much of Europe loves this guy much more than Bush. Is that a good thing? It makes me cringe when the French are happy about our President. It wasn't too long ago that one of my employees in Paris told me she was rooting for Saddam --by the way, she is no longer one of my employees.

Now you won't get the same reaction in Poland or the Czech Republic. They realize that bending over to the Russians to pull missile defense is bad for them. As Obamavich cowers to more of our rivals, I think you may see a realization in Europe that he isn't such a good guy for them--even if he does support their socialistic agenda.

It makes me cringe when the French are happy about our President.

I kinda like Ted Nugent's take on the French.;)

When asked in an interview for a British paper this question about deer hunting "What do these deer think when they see you coming? Here comes the nice guy who puts out dinner? Or, there's the man who shot my brother?"

Ted replied "I don't think they're capable of either of those thoughts, you Limey arsehole. They're only interested in three things: the best place to eat, having sex and how quickly they can run away. Much like the French."

You must have me confused with someone else. You won't find any positive comments I've made about Bush, the Saudi's or Pakistan. As far as contributions to other nations I only support those that I believe are in our national interest.

Here's my thought on the most interesting flip:

In 2001, nothing was Bush's fault, it was all Clinton's fault (if you were a Republican.)
In 2001, everything was Bush's fault, nothing was Clinton's fault (if you were a Democrat.)

In 2009, nothing is Obama's fault, it's all Bush's fault (if you're a Democrat.)
In 2009, everything is Obama's fault, none of it is Bush's fault (if you're a Republican.)

There's been some things I'm not really all that happy about from this administration. I still think it's the best of the three viable alternatives that was presented, but I'll admit that at the time I voted I thought that he was more than the best of three non-stellar alternatives. He's still got 3.25 years to get things rolling in the right direction and we'll see if he gets another four after that. He'll have to do more than he has to re-earn my vote, though I don't know who else out there would get it in the alternative.

One thing I do like about him is that he came out publicly and said to go ahead and blame it on him, it's his problem to deal with.
