Colin Cowturd agreed with the OU-tOSU double standard. But this was his reasoning.
"Oklahoma lost to West Virginia, Boise State, and BYU! At least Ohio State loses to big time programs like Florida and USC."
Ok, first of all, to be fair.....we lost to those teams, too. I know its not funny, but regardless, his claim holds no water.
West Virginia was a TD away from playing for the MNC. While WV lost that game, we beat the #1 team in the nation. This is a weak statement. They were a solid team.
Boise State had the best team in the history of their program and pulled every trick out of the book to win. Not to mention they were ranked HIGHER than us! We had a QB turned WR turned QB again lead us to a BCS with AD hurt nearly half the season. Again, weak statement.
BYU....ok, we weren't that impressive. But we don't ever play teams of that caliber in the first game, much less on a neutral field. Our defense was ok, but our offense was so green that it was totally exposed before it could get used to being on that stage against that kind of competition. Oh and we lost an up-coming-LB, All-American TE, and Heisman QB by halftime. Hmmmm....
Hell, since 2000, the other bowl games we played were a national title, a cotton bowl win, a rose bowl win, a close MNC loss with an injured Heisman QB, a inexcusable MNC loss, and a Holiday Bowl win against a #5 Oregon team with a team that was rebuilding.
When you actually look at relevant facts, we have had a pretty decent decade. At least he added that the Big 10 sucks. Thats one thing we can agree on.
