My personal favorites...

- I believe 2005 K State deep snapper hiked the ball to a phantom punter for a safety.

- 2006 aTm 4th down and inches for OU and aTm ironically has 12 players on the field

- 2005 Holiday Bowl Bomar spiked the ball in celebration with time remaining for a penalty placing the ball on the 1in line

Wasn't there a stupid roughing the passer penalty this weekend against a Tulsa player, that kept our TD drive going?

Pretty sure that was North Texas......unless they both did it.

Bonehead plays that helped OU:
1983 Oklahoma State - the infamous onside kick.
1990 Oklahoma State - the Cale Mary.

Bonehead plays that hurt OU:
1996 Texas Tech - Eric Moore runs out of bounds at the two on 4th and Goal.
1998 Colorado - Blake goes for two while down nine. We score again, and lose by two.

Funniest play of all time!

And it was K-State. I *think* another team had done it playing against us before. But the k-state "punt without a punter" play was in the end zone for a safety. With Snyder as the coach no less.

For OU: 2002 vs. ISU, Strait blocks a punt and a Cyclone (not sure if was the punter) goes into the end zone to kick it out and whiffs. TD OU. Drew lots of laughs.

That's the one I am thinking of. Guess I should pay closer attention to numbers. Also for a safety I believe.

A Texas fan said on this board that if Roy Williams doesn't make that hit on Simms, he finds an open receiver for a 97-yard touchdown.

In the context of that game, sure, it hurt. But for the football program, it helped. He only needed one more win that year to be bowl-eligible. I count my lucky stars that we lost those close games against Cal and Colorado that year.

Same here. A one point and two point loss to those teams with 11 or 12 points in field goals or extra points missed. Seemed bad at the time, but was God telling us something bigger wa on the horizon.

Yeah that phantom punter thing against K State in 05 may have been the funniest thing I've ever seen on a football field. If you recall, we looked like total crap for the first 4 games of that year and EASILY put up 49 on the Wildcats haha. I'm hesitant to say the Bradley muff was the most boneheaded play, because who knows what would happen after that? What about Lewis Baker (not singling him out, I think it was him though) overpursuing and getting burned on the hook and ladder play against Boise?

OSU's Leonard Thompson back to field the kickoff vs OU in the north EZ @ Owen Field. It was a relatively short kick & when it bounced, Thompson elected to let it roll dead as if he were fielding a punt.

OU recovered the ball in the EZ for a TD as Thompson stood there watching it.

At least it was a trick play. IMO, a bigger blunder by him was letting Ziegler get deep on him in '05 when it was pretty much hit a bomb or lose at the time for Baylor.

It seems like I remember a play like that, don't know if it is the same you are talking about but the one I remember they called the ball dead once it hit the end zone and ruled it a touchback, which I do believe is actually the rule. I just remember sitting in the stands trying to to use logic and figure out why it wasn't a TD because the ball was live on the kickoff. I should have known better than to try and use logic to figure out any thing the NCAA does but I still tried none the less. May have been a different game just a similar play

I remember in the mid-70's, OU was playing the Aggies of Stoolwater.

The Sooners had scored another touchdown and lined up on the 40 for the kickoff. OSU was lined up to receive but they were missing their 2 deep men.

As it turned out the Aggie deep men were lined up in the Sooner endzone, behind the OU kicking team. They had to run the entire length of the field to their own endzone to receive the kickoff.

The crowd loved it.
