So my bank bought another bank and I get to spend a week in San Diego getting the merge underway. I will be staying in the Gaslamp district and working about 4 miles away. My questions are simple. What are the best restaurants to spend my per diam in? Does anyone have any places that are CANT MISS kind of places to eat/drink? I will be there in late Oct, if that matters. :pop:

Thanks!
Seattle

I'd highly recommend McDonald's. They have a juicy angus burger there and frenched potatoes that are all the rage.

Kemosabe

My favorite restaurant on the planet and that includes my favorite city, Seattle. (Kemosabe is similar to Icon Grill)

Asian/Southwest fusion in the Hillcrest district, 5th Ave.

Also, its hard to recommend seafood to someone from WetTown, but almost all the restaurants on Shelter Island are excellent.

Croce's is a cool place, but very touristy...run by Jim's wife.

There is a cigar bar in gaslamp called Cesar's...also my favorite. Very, very cool place...503 5th Ave.

Was gonna say KC BBQ. It's where they filmed the bar scene in Top Gun. However, some ****er burned it down.

You could go to IB and hang out with the esse's. There's a NY style pizza place there (can't remember the name) that has a 42" hand tossed pizza. Best pizza I ever et.

Eat lunch at the Tin Fish, near Petco Park. It's not a great dinner spot, but the tacos are fabulous and everything I've had is quite good.

The Hotel Del Coronado is a nice place to look at, but its best days are behind it. And I'm not saying that because I spent my honeymoon there.

Just make sure you get fish tacos somewhere. I've eaten them at about a dozen different places in San Diego, and they were good at all of them.

I ate at a really good Indian restaurant when I was there. I think it was called Monsoon? I heard good things about a Lebanese restaurant, but I don't remember the name and didn't get a chance to try it.

Peohe's! (http://www.peohes.com/)

Spend some time over on Coronado, my good man. The Del is incredible and Peohe's is one of my favorite places on the planet. GREAT lobster bisque there.

Have a fish taco at Rubio's.

And, don't forget, GO PADRES!

Yes, Go Pads, BUT....it will be October, and I doubt they will be playing. :) Thanks for the suggestions. I will add it to my googlemaps.

Will I need a jacket in the evenings?

Depends on how warm-blooded you are. September and October are usually the warmest months in San Diego and the Bay Area, so perhaps not.

Layers are the best evening solution, then probably not a jacket.
