I don't know if it was said, but he truly deserves to be put into that spotlight after his first three games. Especially with other HOPEFULS starting slow. Colt McCoy has been sloppy. Tebow is doing good I guess, but has about 4-5 turnovers already. Who knows?

Look at his stats in 3 games:

22 receptions, 309 yds, 7 TDs

he leads all WR's in TDs by 2, and he's tied for 15th yardwise.

Especially if it's possible for Sam to come back, I think his numbers only get better. GO BROYLES!

Needs to get that yardage up.

Name the only WR to ever win the Heisman.

If he keeps racking up the TDs though, that could make up for it. Especially if he brings some kicks back. It can happen!

Desmond Howard

What about Tim Brown?

Steve Owens, but Desmond Howard for Michigan won it and wasn't he a wide receiver?

This is true - Desmond was also a special teamer in addition to a wide receiver... many Heisman winners that aren't QB's build up uber stats by playing special teams roles (see Bush, Reggie "Push")

Desmond Howard

Owens was a Fullback.

Howard is correct.

Now....post these kind of numbers and hope no QB's have a big year.

Howard's 1991 season was amazing by any standards catching 61 passes for 950 yards and 19 touchdowns (23 total TDs.) He was the first receiver in Big Ten conference history to lead the league in scoring with 138 points. Add the 12 scores as a sophomore and two as a freshman, and Howard amassed an amazing 37 touchdowns in his UM career.

I didn't mean to put Owens I edited it right away.

Charles Woodson also saw some time at receiver. And Eric Crouch's "Heisman Moment" occurred while catching a TD pass.

Right now, I think Jahvid Best should win. He basically put Cal on his back with 5 TDs against Minnesota. Of all of the QBs, Daryl Clark looks the best, but since they haven't played anybody, it's hard to tell.

If Crabtree didn't win the Heisman last season then a WR will never win it again

^incorrect. You forget factoring in the AMAZING seasons had by Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, and Tim Tebow.

Des returning punts is really what helped him

hayzeus shouldn't even be considered for the heisman at this point. 115 yards passing yesterday??? seriously??? the heisman is already a popularity contest. if they're going to give it to QBs that average 120 yards passing a game, they should stop giving it out alltogether.

Fitzgerald was closer than Crabtree

but a WR is going to have to stand out when there isn't a QB throwing 40 or 50 TDs on the way to playing in the national championship game...

if Fitzgerald or Crabtree have those seasons in 2002, they probably win

I guess non of you guys saw Tebow "pumping up" his teammates on the sidelines yesterday. There is your heisman moment.
