Well let me tell you us folks in the heart of the state are very damned appreciative of this little bout of moisture. While all y'all were getting 2-3-4 inches, we were getting a tenth - at most. We're loving this whole deal of slow, steady drizzle. Of course I didn't have to sit through the Tater State game, tailgate, etc., so I'm digging the drizzle. My pasture is actually a shade of emerald - rather than ****-nickel brown.

My dad will be scanning a nearby city park shortly for morels that pop up after rain. I hear they're uberly expensive.

Pick 'em and cook 'em up. Let us know how they taste.

Tell him he ain't in Oshkosh any more Dorothy...

Morels only pop up in the early spring in OK. Dead elms, sometimes around cedars, etc. We pick some when we get a decently moist spring. Last year we got about 10 pounds or so. Those suckers sell for about $25 a pound up in Iowegia. Momma's dad picks hundreds of pounds on his place up by the Iowa/Minnesota/Wisconsin border.
